I like mixing and matching things up. This is my second duology (2 book box set). This time I combined my tropical island crash romance – Brace for Impact - with my urban fantasy – Love My Fate. Both are steamy and hot love stories with fun characters, crazy adventures and passionately hot sex.

 

 

Excerpt 

 

Scene set – opening scene in second book of duology – Love My Fate

 

My erotic adventure began the moment he whispered, "Do you happen to own a pair of red, fuzzy handcuffs?"

Well okay, it didn't exactly start there. If I'm going to be perfectly honest, I think it started with Kat's text: "Meet me at - insert name of five-star restaurant here."

Kat’s always getting me to take her out for expensive dinners. I don't mind, I'm a highly-paid executive, in a large global corporation, while she's a receptionist in a small dental office. Besides, I like good food and her company.

Kat and I have been BFFs since third grade. We were in each other's wedding parties and cried on each other's shoulders at our subsequent divorces. Now, we're each other's go-to person whenever the mood strikes. Obviously, the mood struck and it involved my credit card. I texted back a reply –"Xavier's. 6 pm."

Kat waited outside the restaurant when my cab pulled up to the curb. "Timing or what? I just got here."

After the requisite cheek kiss, we stepped up to the Maitre D'. He smiled his I-must-be-friendly-because-they're-guests smile and escorted us to our table. We ordered drinks and chatted. We talked about the weather, her new dress, my job—you know, just old—no, scratch old, put long-time—girlfriend stuff.

After a diet conscious meal, followed by a calorie-loaded dessert, we waited outside for a taxi.

"Do you trust me?" With a goofy grin on her face, Kat's dark chocolate mellowed-from-too-much-wine, eyes gazed at me.

Having seen that innocent demeanour before; it meant nothing but trouble. I was a bit wary. Okay, a lot wary! The last time she'd gawked at me like that and asked the same brainless question, we ended up at a frat house beer slosh during Homecoming and I wasn't in college anymore.

A cab pulled up and stopped. She grabbed my arm and dragged me into it. "Convention Centre."

I slid next to her and shut the car door. "What's at the convention centre?"

"That's the trust me bit." She raised her hands and flicked two fingers up and down at the words trust me.

You have to love air quotes.

I checked my cell for messages then glanced at her. "Is this going to get me arrested? Again?"

She shook her head.

"Is it going to get me hit on—again—by horny, beer-soaked, college drunks?"

Kat giggled.

"Is that a yes or a no?"

"Nope. Not going to tell you. You need to trust me."

Air quotes.

Again.

I stuffed my cellphone into my royal blue Coach purse. "Okay, let's see what the Fates have in store.

Pam continues to talk to Mr. Peterson on the phone while she waits for the dinner he ordered her to be delivered.

Pam gave another harrumph, but sat down as ordered.

"That's two, my dear. Keep it up and you're going to get a lesson in manners a lot quicker than I planned."

"What are you implying?"

"Never mind. We’ll discuss everything tomorrow. I'm just warning you, I consider eye-rolling and harrumphing as forms of disrespect, for which I possess zero tolerance."

"You're right," she admitted, realizing she was being ungrateful after all he'd done for her. "I'm sorry. I'm being too familiar."

"No, Pam. That's not it. As we get to know each other better, I'll expect you to call me Rob when we're alone. So, it isn't the lack of formality I object to, it's the disrespect inherent in your actions. You're saying you'll do what I ask because I'm the boss, but since you don't agree with my reasons, you dismiss them as mere nonsense."

"So, I'm not allowed to disagree with you?"

"Okay, you're splitting hairs. Of course you may disagree with me, if you are so inclined, but I expect—no, I demand—you do so respectfully. Understand?"

"No, sir."

"You will. I intend to make all my expectations abundantly clear, so you’ll recognize when you cross a line that will get you in trouble."

Bio:

Lessons in Love is Kathryn R. Blake's sixth novel with Blushing Books, and fifth spanking romance where Domestic Discipline is primary to the plot.  Although Kathryn is relatively new to the spanking romance market, she is not new to stories where the hero spanks the heroine.  In fact, most of her novels have some sort of spanking in them.  However, even in Kathryn's novels where the hero firmly believes in using spanking as a deterrent, he has no desire to cause the heroine injury and takes no delight in hurting the woman of his heart.  In fact, sometimes he finds it extremely difficult to follow through on his threats or promises.

To date, all of her heroes are dominant, alpha males who are extremely protective of the women they love.  However, part of that protectiveness includes the need for a certain amount of control.  They do not suffer defiance or disobedience lightly. Interview with Pamela Weston

1. Nickname: Most everyone just calls me Pam

2. Job: I've been rotating as an administrative assistant at Peterson Enterprises for the last 6 months.

3. Level of schooling, or self-taught: High School. I received my GED.

4. Favorite type of pet: I like all pets, but I guess I'd have to pick dogs as my favorite.

5. Favorite place to visit: I haven't been many places, so I can't really pick a favorite.

6. Most important goal: Staying below the radar and keeping my nose clean. I need my job.

7. Worst fear or nightmare: Getting sent back to prison.

8. Favorite food: I like a variety of different foods from American backyard barbecues to Chinese. My limited budget doesn't alow for much experimentation.

9. Wealthy, poor, or somewhere in between?" Making ends meet right now. Could definitely use a raise which is why I'm hoping once I start working for the CEO, he doesn't fire me. However, I'm more than a little worried about what I've heard concerning his management style.

Jenny had woken to gentle kisses on her neck and turned toward her husband. The bedroom was pitch black, because Cal liked it that way, and neither of them had spoken as they let their hands talk for them. Cal threw the covers off the bed as he sat up and straddled Jenny. He'd held her firmly between his knees as his hands found her breasts. He'd cupped and fondled them gently. Soon, he had begun teasing the nipples, causing Jenny to catch her breath and start to squirm beneath him.

After spending thirty-six years in two careers I liked just fine, I’ve finally found my dream career as a writer. I’ve been happily married for thirty-six-years and my sweet husband has gotten used to the unique experience of living with a writer. He is very encouraging and an excellent editor when he’s pressed into service. 

I’ve been intrigued by spanking stories since before I first saw Ricky spank Lucy. What was especially fun with this series of Cal’s Law is that 
it also has many of the people from the Cassie series. While 
each book works well as a stand-alone, it flows so well as the 
series progresses. Life and situations are changing for Cal 
and Jenny, and it will lead to some tense moments. 
Throw in when Allie, Cassie, Sue, and Annie become involved.

The story will have Allie running her own cleaning service and 
will include Jenny working for her, as the business grows, she 
will add more people. But a new problem has not only the ladies c
oncerned but their husbands too. Several of the nicer homes have 
been burglarized during the day when people are away—and one 
when a family member was visiting and attacked. Now Cal and 
Ryan are uncomfortable with their ladies working, but will working 
together in teams make it safer? What about when one home has 
an owner making sexual advances and keeping that secret too.

Life for Cal and Jenny will have several challenges, the first when he informs 
her that the house they are renting is needed by the owner for a family 
member and they must move. Moving in with his family is less than ideal 
and leads to stress in their marriage and has Jenny mad enough she 
must get out of town and away from his family. The second will be 
phone calls from attorneys insisting upon her presence and learning 
secrets from the past. It’s bad enough what all Jenny has endured 
from her mother but to learn she has a trust fund and is coming 
into money adds new stress between her and Cal.

Even though this is book 4 of Cal's Law series, it really is mostly 
about Cal & Jenny and Allie & Ryan. Everyone else is part 
of the book as well. There are burglars in Beaufort County and 
Cal has very little leads. Because of this, Cal and Ryan want 
Allie to close down her cleaning business until they get caught, 
She refuses, but the way she does it gets her spanked. Of 
course, there are more spankings and all the ladies get into trouble. 
There is a HEA. I'm hoping this is not the last book about these couples.
