EXCERPT

"Where are you off to?" King Gideon asked, strolling across the marble floor. He paused directly in front of Aaron, waiting to hear his answer.
Aaron shoved the keys into his pocket, hoping his father hadn't noticed. "Does it matter?" He'd always walked a fine line of obeying his father and doing what he felt was right.
"I asked you a question," his father said. The king's tone was short and abrupt, reminding Aaron that he was not yet in charge.
Aaron knew he'd never be king, and he'd grown accustomed to that fact and had been fine with it. He recognized that he didn't have to be king to change the world. Not that he felt it needed a lot of changing, just bits and pieces. He didn't agree with how his father handled the disposal of courtesans. They were people not trash. Did he not realize that, or more likely he just didn't care.

Interview for the #EggcerptExchange With @KRBwrites Lessons in Love

Interview for Kathryn Blake

Are you like any of your heroines?
I'd say most of my heroines and I share some history. They are a part of me and share some of my feelings, but they are definitely different people. Most are much braver and fiestier than I ever could be, but then I'm more even tempered and easy going than most of the women in my stories, and I have fewer hang-ups.

Are you working on a new book right now?
I think I'm always working on something, but the next new book I expect to publish is actually a prequel to my only BDSM novel, "A Dom's Dilemma." This is Kelly's introduction to BDSM through a Daddy Dom and age play.

How many books have you written and are they all spanking fiction?
"Lessons in Love" is my eighth novel, but only my sixth spanking romance. My two other books are paranormal romances that have a bit of spanking in them, but aren't spanking romances by definition. So, all my books at least mention spanking and have dominant heroes struggling to protect independent heroines.

What advice would you have for writers who decide to try their hand at erotica?
My first advice would be to read several books in the genre. If you don't enjoy reading the stories, you aren't going to enjoy writing them. So make sure it's a genre pool you feel comfortable playing in.

How did you come up with your title?
The hero is a strong proponent of domestic discipline, and he believes in teaching his assistants how to be better people. He starts out considering the heroine to be a perfect project for his methods, but then ends up falling in love with her, which is a life lesson for him.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
My heroine has a lot of issues, including a huge helping of self-doubt, but the hero gets her to see herself the way he sees her. She's not entirely convinced he's not nearsighted, but she does finally accept that he loves her and he isn't trying to change her into something she's not. So, despite all her problems, she is worthy of being loved.

Who designed your book's cover?
My publisher ABCD Graphics is credited with the design. I checked to see if an artist was named in the credits, but none were, so I believe the responsible individual is on my publisher's staff.

Do you have anything specific you'd like to say to your readers?
Yes, I'd like to publicly acknowledge the help and support I received from a few individuals. Books require a team effort, so I'd like to thank Kate Richards for her editorial guidance, Celeste Jones for her insightful input, and Staci Taylor for overseeing the project.

What was your favorite chapter or part to write?
Good question. I'd have to say one of my favorite parts is near the end of the book when the heroine discovers just how much the hero knew about her past and how much influence he had on her getting hired by his company. She's fallen in love with him, but the discovery leaves her feeling a bit like an insect under a microscope, so she plots her escape with a co-worker's assistance.

Are you a morning or night person?
Definitely a night person, though I sometimes go to bed early in the morning after working all night, so I'm either a very late night person or a very early morning person.

As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?
My aspirations changed as I grew up. At one point early on I thought I wanted to become a doctor or vet, but I can't stand to see anyone in pain, especially not children or animals, so that bubble burst. Ballet always interested me, but I've got two left feet, so didn't get very far with that one, either. I loved to act, so I was a bit of a drama queen. In college, I majored in drama, but I identified too closely with my characters, so I gave up that dream to identify with my characters through writing.

What Internet site do you surf to the most?
Facebook. I never used to visit FB, but then I joined some writing groups and now it's one of the first and last places I visit. That and my e-mail, of course.

When people look at me they would never guess that I:
Write erotic spanking romances. I mean I look like such a nice, quiet, polite woman that people never suspect I entertain a much naughtier side. Appearances can be deceiving.

Bio:

Lessons in Love is Kathryn R. Blake's sixth novel with Blushing Books, and fifth spanking romance where Domestic Discipline is primary to the plot.  Although Kathryn is relatively new to the spanking romance market, she is not new to stories where the hero spanks the heroine.  In fact, most of her novels have some sort of spanking in them.  However, even in Kathryn's novels where the hero firmly believes in using spanking as a deterrent, he has no desire to cause the heroine injury and takes no delight in hurting the woman of his heart.  In fact, sometimes he finds it extremely difficult to follow through on his threats or promises.
To date, all of her heroes are dominant, alpha males who are extremely protective of the women they love.  However, part of that protectiveness includes the need for a certain amount of control.  They do not suffer defiance or disobedience lightly. Even so, these men aren't infallible, and they do make mistakes, but love and respect will always triumph in the end.
Kathryn has been a member of RWA since the early 1980s and has joined several local and special interest chapters. Besides writing, Kathryn enjoys traveling, reading, attending the theatre, and is a passionate lover of animals, so much so that in 2015 a stray cat adopted her. The stray now sleeps in Kathryn's bed.  She has also recently taken up the expensive hobby of making and selling jewelry.
Her personal website, www.kathrynrblake.com, is filled with photos and links to information about her many interests as well as peppered with quizzes, contests, games and lots of other fun things to do and she loves to hear from her readers, so she has an e-mail link at the bottom of every page.

Short Blurb:

Pam Weston didn't have many choices as far as employment went. Her prison sentence saw to that. With limited secretarial skills, and an even more limited budget, she never considered herself executive material. So, when she was ordered to report to the CEO of her company as his new personal assistant, she fully expected to be checking out the "Help Wanted" section of the paper before the day was over.

Robert Peterson knew his management style was not HR approved, but he believed in using the stick as well as the carrot. Employing the tenets of domestic discipline, he helped mold his personal assistants into confident women who recognized their own self-worth. Even so, his unorthodox methods were only one of the reasons many considered the position of his assistant to be a revolving door. To Rob's mind, Pamela Weston was perfect for his purposes, though given her past, he expected convincing her to agree to his program would be a challenge.

Excerpt :
After Pam takes an accidental overdose of sleeping pills with wine, her boss becomes her court-appointed legal guardian. Though Pam is attracted to her handsome employer, his tendency to take charge occasionally rubs her the wrong way. So, when she discovers he'd had his employees go into her apartment without her permission and move all her belongings, she begins to see red.

"Honestly, Krista, I don't think I can face him right now without doing something violent."
Nodding, Krista rose. "Okay. I definitely don't want you to hurt yourself. If you must leave, I'll take you—" Her words were cut off when Rob stepped into the room; his pleased smile vanishing like someone slapped it off his face.
"I see you found your room without too much trouble." He folded his arms over his chest. "Though I'm surprised to hear you're thinking of leaving so soon."
Krista gave Pam a guilty glance. "I'll wait downstairs."
"No need, Krista," Rob assured. "Pam won't be going anywhere."
Pam glared at the man who barred her exit. "Are you planning on holding me prisoner?"
"Not at all. But while I'm your guardian, you will not leave this house without my permission, and I'm not giving it."
Pam surged to her feet, stopping only when Krista put a hand out. "Rob, I really think you should dial down the testosterone a bit and hear her out. She's upset—"
"I can see that, Krista, but unfortunately her mood cannot and will not alter her circumstance. I think you'd better leave. However, I need to go to the office Sunday for the day, so if you could come back for a visit, I believe Pam would appreciate it, as long as you don't offer yourself as the getaway driver again."
Krista nodded. "Sure. I can come back. Pam, I'll see you tomorrow.
Though Pam gave her friend a nod, the moment Krista stepped out of the room, she headed toward the bathroom. "I have a killer headache, so I'm going to take some aspirin." Not waiting for a response, she marched across the shiny tile floor and pulled back the recessed mirror over the sink. After moving a few bottles, she realized, with everything they had moved, there wasn't a single bottle of aspirin or any other sort of pain reliever, and she'd had several of them in her medicine cabinet at her apartment. She started to remove items from the glass-shelved compartment to double-check.
"Don't bother. You won't find what you're looking for."
Slamming the mirrored door, she glared at him. "Why not?"
"Because I will dispense any and all medications you require."
"What? You're saying I can't even take a freaking aspirin without your permission?"
"Lower your voice, please. And that is precisely what I'm saying. You took an overdose, Pam, so all medicine is considered a controlled substance for you."
"That sucks!" she yelled, her head pounding so hard now she thought it might explode.
He bolstered a shoulder against the door. "Yelling isn't going to change the situation or ease your headache."
"No?" At a shake of his head, she flung the medicine cabinet door open again. "Well, maybe this will." And once those words were spoken, she began pitching make-up bottles and jars onto the floor. When they refused to break, she slammed the small drinking glass into the sink's deep marble basin, finding the tinkle of splintering crystal immensely satisfying.
She expected him to charge in and manhandle her into submission, but he remained propped against the doorframe with his arms folded. Blinded by fury and driven by need, she grabbed two jagged shards from the shattered drinking vessel and squeezed them in her fists until blood oozed out.

Simon Says by @LibbyC26 - Libby Campbell #NeverEndingTour

Simon Says by Libby Campbell

Publisher:        Blushing Books
Released:         January 28, 2016

Genre:             Contemporary, romantic erotica

Sadie will be the perfect woman for Simon, if only she can learn to obey his rules.

When feisty Sadie Donohue meets Simon Jacobson at a New Year’s Eve party, she thinks it’s a chance encounter, but not all is as it seems. Simon is a busy executive who prefers to be the master of his own destiny.
Over dinner the next night his authoritative personality starts to emerge. Always one to question authority, Sadie rebuffs his gentle suggestions for more polite behavior with a lively, sharp wit. Simon is amused but unmoved.
If Sadie wants to continue seeing him she must accept his rules. Rules that will be reinforced by spankings when she fails to comply.
A strong, independent woman, Sadie struggles with his demands. A tragedy from Simon’s past makes him more determined than ever to make her obey. Their worlds collide.
This romantic comedy, set in cold climes of Canada, is warmed with frequent spankings.

EXCERPTS

He caressed a nipple as he straightened to a standing position. “Tracy took strips off me before I went upstairs to wake you and bring you home. She said I had no business dropping a bombshell in your life and leaving you to deal with it alone. I told her you’re a big girl with lots of friends to protect you. Plus it wasn’t like I was offering you anything bad, was it?”
I shook my head and said nothing.
“Still I’m taking her comments into consideration as I determine your punishment. Tell me honestly—do you think you should be spanked tonight?”
I shrugged.
“Wise choice to remain silent. Better not risk a wrong answer. However, in my court you are allowed to incriminate yourself. In fact, it’s expected when you have broken my rules. In time you will learn to thank me for the discipline. Until then, let’s deal with what you’re up for now. Let’s accept the fact that you’re going to be spanked. Can you think of the reasons why?”

Questions:

Are you working on a new book right now?

I’m working on the sequel to Simon Says. The happy ending at the end of book one was a lull before the storm. The whirlwind romance took Sadie’s breath away. Now she’s had time to think about things more, she wants to set a few rules of her own.

Who designed the cover?

Lawrence Craighill. She’s brilliant!

If we Googled your name what would we see?

A lot of other people named Libby Campbell. Look for the tag writer & mischief maker and you’ll find me.

If you could have been told one thing that you weren't told when you were a teenager, what would you like to have heard?

Three things that bundle together: respect yourself, be patient, and work hard.

What is the best thing you have done in your life?

Not give up.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Yes. Unequivocally, absolutely, and totally.

Does Prince Charming exist?

Mine does. Prince Charming with a hairbrush!

Tell us about a unique or quirky habit of yours.

I loathe litter, absolutely hate the way so many people trash our shared environment. So whenever I go for a hike, I pack in garbage bags and pack out some of the rubbish that’s lying around. Sad to say, I never come home empty-handed, even from remote places.

I felt validated when I learned about David Sedaris doing the same thing in his neighbourhood.

Blurb -

Was it murder or an accident?

Lexi finds herself embroiled in a game of politics, assassinations and secrets. A world where people are not who they seem.

Detective Matthew Ryan wants Lexi as far away as possible from him and the case. But Lexi knows too much. After a public assassination they discover that whoever is responsible is willing to go to great lengths to dispose of those who get in the way of their plans.

Is Lexi willing to risk her own life to seek the truth?

Money, status, and power. Some people will do anything to get it, others will do whatever it takes to keep it.

Excerpt -

He pushed her hard and she slammed into the wall of the building, the rugged bricks cutting her palms as she tried to protect herself from the impact. This couldn’t be the end. She turned to face her attacker. She didn’t recognise him. In the darkness she could just make out his features. He had a face that could easily get lost in a crowd, olive skin, a freckle beside his eye, and brown hair. It’s funny the details you notice when you face your killer.

“I’ll give you whatever you want, please, take my keys, my wallet, there’s two hundred dollars in there, just don’t hurt me, please,” Lexi pleaded as he pushed her against the wall.

He stared at her. No smile. No reaction. Then she noticed the glimmer of a gun in his hand.

He pushed even closer until she felt his lips against her ear. “You’ve been asking too many questions.”

Lexi squeezed her eyes shut and pushed him away with all the strength that she could muster as pain seared through her body. She kicked him but he grabbed her by the neck and pulled her towards him pressing the cold metal barrel against the flesh of her lower back. This was it. She was about to die. And all for nothing. She wondered if Dana had known she was going to die at the exact moment her car had veered off the road and slammed into the tree.

Michelle Abbott #EggcerptExchange with JEM

JEM
Two injured, stubborn souls meet unexpectedly. Will they save each other from their demons or have they been too damaged for too long to see past the pain?

Growing up, all Jem knew was hatred and the pain from his father's fists. Taunted by the kids at school, he was alone, until a girl with carrot coloured hair sat next to him.

She smiled.
She listened.
She cared.

She was his angel, and he knew he’d love her forever. But Jem’s father hurts him in a way he never expected by taking him away from her.

Now eighteen, scarred inside and out, Jem trusts no one and has worked hard to ensure he'll never be helpless again. But then he runs into his angel. The only problem is she doesn’t recognize him. Jem needs her to remember him, to show him that their time together meant to her what it did to him. For once in his life he wants to have mattered to someone, to her.

Devon is attracted to the muscular, tattooed, pierced hottie standing by the pub quiz machine. That is, until he punches a guy clean across the bar for daring to touch him. She’s had her fill of violent men and intends to avoid this one at all costs.

Eggcerpt from JEM

I pull back the duvet and try to make as few movements as possible as I crawl in beside her and let the warmth from her body and the duvet envelop me. Her red hair is splayed across my pillow. I reach out and stroke my fingers through the silken strands. My pillowcase isn’t getting washed again. It can smell of her forever so that whenever I lay my head on it, I can pretend she’s with me. Maybe it will be okay to move a little closer. I’m right on the edge of the mattress. If I fall out of bed I’ll wake her. I scoot closer to her, close my eyes and inhale. She smells of roses. Maybe I should get her some flowers. I picture myself holding a bunch of red roses and chuckle to myself. Nah, I’m not the suave type. Maybe I’ll get a rose tattoo to remind me of her scent.

Interview with Jem

1.  Job?

I work at an amusement arcade, fixing the machines when they go wrong, handing out change and that kind of thing. It pays my bills, it’s local and the hours suit me.

2. Currently residing in...?

Hemsby in Norfolk. I’ve got a trailer right by the sea. There’s nothing like walking along the beach every morning. It keeps me calm.

3. Level of schooling, or self-taught?

I had to quit school when I was small because my asshole of a father moved us all at the last minute after someone reported him to social services for child cruelty. He never enrolled me in another school. I taught myself all I need to know.

4. Favorite food?

Don’t have one. I eat to live, I don’t live to eat.

5. Most important goal?

To get Devon to remember me and love me again. To take care of her and show her that I never forgot her and never stopped loving her.

Michelle Abbott lives in the UK and hates describing herself in 3rd person.

She  loves to write new adult romance about heroes who begin as the underdog and are protective of their girl.

She's an avid reader of romance, is addicted to coffee and loves wine and chocolate, so yeah, not the most healthy eating and drinking habits :-) She spends way too much time online when she should be writing. She collects teddy bears and occasionally knits a couple of rows on a sweater she started years ago, which she may eventually finish in time to wear for her funeral :-)

Excerpt: (from chapter two Shocking Finds)

Marin needed answers. Like why had they been targeted? The parking lot hadn’t

exactly been lacking for vehicular violence victim contenders. There had been a group

of at least four women, standing by their cars, chatting. If there was a target more

deserving of vehicular rage, it had definitely been that group of women. They had

finished shopping, and courtesy demanded that their parking spots were to be

relinquished as soon as possible. Why not them?

The man—and Marin was only guessing that the driver was a man—had

bypassed those without parking lot etiquette and zeroed in on Lindal. If she had

continued her slow progress through the parking lot, would Marin be in this horrible

room with its beeping monitors and bleached air instead of Lindal.

Staring down at her aunt’s unmoving form, Marin tried to find a place to rest her

hand. She needed to touch her. She needed to know that the only person willing to take

her in, after the death of her mother, was really here and still alive.

“They will find him, Lindal. He won't get away with this,” Marin made her vow as

quietly as possible, not wanting to disturb Lindal's recovery.

Glancing up to keep tears from falling from her eyes, Marin noticed something

swinging off of Lindal's oxygen line. “What the...” It looked like a Barbie doll with wings,

Now… without further ado… here is Marin Yarthine…

Interviewer: You’ve had quick the introduction to the Fae world, Marin… Can I call you Marin..

Marin (reddened cheeks): Uhh… sure… I mean, that’s what most people call me… Kyland has

been call me, Minzet, but I’m pretty sure that’s something just between us since it means Sweet One…

but…yeah… Marin would be best.

Interviewer (light chuckle): Great. Well, I nice to finally get to sit down with us… and as the new Princess

to the Fae people, with such an odd upbringing… the Fae would love to know a little pit about you… Tell

us a little bit about day to day life in the royal world…

Marin: Pfft… Most of the time I think they have the wrong girl… I mean… I was home schooled,

and have worked at Finder’s Keepers since I turned 17… for the past four years I have been slipping into

Finder’s Trances in order to locate everything from pets to abduction victims… from car keys to family

heirlooms… it sounds like important work but really, I mostly had to pull a bunch of information

together so that other Finder’s could go out on Mission to locate whatever the client had misplaced…

Interviewer: That sounds like important work to me… also, something that would take a toll on your

emotions… do you have someone to cuddle up to at night to help you get through the day???

Marin (Cheeks now flaming red): Kyland… he came out of nowhere and changed my life… and he

doesn’t even mind when I accidentally shock him with this new power that has a tendency to get out of

Interview: …. (shuffles through questions) … (scoots chair back and grits her teeth)… What goals and

hardships do you face… what do you want for the Fae?? I mean… what are your plans to keep the Fae

community safe?? (scoots back a little further…)

Marin (head cocked to the side): I’m still learning about the Fae world.. but I would say my goal

is to keep as many people safe as I can… (fists clench) … if the evil Fae, those Danshue ********… sorry

for my language, but if they would just stop getting in the way, I could learn a little faster… someone

needs to stop the Danshue before this community I’m just getting to know dies out…

Sparks light up on Marin’s hands, but Interviewer merely gets a white

Knuckled grip on her set and continues…

Interviewer: One final questions and we will let you get back to your new duties as Princess… Can you

tell us what fears you are facing in this new chapter of your life???

Marin: … (Deep Breath…) Lindal… that the woman that pretended to be my only family, that

kidnapped me as a child (sparks on her fingertips) … that she will find a way to finish what she started…
