Blackmailed by BJ Wane #NeverendingTour #Spanking

Media kit for Blackmailed
TITLE:  BLACKMAILED, VIRGINIA BLUEBLOODS SERIES, BOOK 4
RELEASE DATE:  JULY 14, 2016
PUBLISHER:  BLUSHING BOOKS
GENRE:  EROTIC SPANKING ROMANCE

Thank you for having me today.  BLACKMAILED ends my four book Virginia Bluebloods series with Wes’s story.  I’m so thrilled with the success of this series-readers wonderful comments have made the past year of hard work worth every moment!  All four titles can be read as stand-alone books, but, of course, I recommend reading all four!

BLURB:
Charlotte Heffington can no more ignore Wes Montgomery's coercion into a short affair than she could forget the erotic experiences he gave her their one night together.  After several exciting, pleasure-filled trysts, she starts questioning whether she would be able to walk away unscathed and accept the future her cousin has mapped out for her or be left to crave the pleasures only Wes could give her.  When Wes turns on her, she’s finally had enough of others manipulating her life and vows to take control of her future.
Wes swore off relationships after a betrayal left him bitter towards women, but he reluctantly finds himself drawn to a woman who looked completely out of her comfort zone when she walked into a downtown bar one Friday night.  After caving to her inexperienced come-on and his uncharacteristic response, he spends an unforgettable night with her.  A week later, a chance meeting reveals her true identity and he feels taken in all over again.  In a rash move, he blackmails her into an affair that turns the tables on him when he finds himself feeling things for her he’s never felt for another woman.  Hearing she’s engaged shatters his belief in happily ever after again and his angry tirade when he confronts her separates them on a bitter note.
After learning the truth, Wes tries to make amends, but when that fails, he resorts to drastic, pleasurable means to convince her to give him another chance, but will it be enough?
Check out these other titles in the Virginia Blueblood series:  Blindsided, book one, Bind Me To You, book two and Surrender To Me, book three.
DISCLAIMER: This book contains the spanking of adult women, explicit sexual scenes including BSDM. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase this book.

EXCERPT : This scene takes place in a hotel elevator on their way to her room for a one-night stand.
“Did I mention I insist on being in charge?  Like this.”  He took her mouth again, his assault deep and hard, her response quick and eager.  Slipping his hand under her skirt, he caressed up her smooth thigh until he reached a surprisingly full, soft buttock.  With his mouth glued to hers, he kept her busy with his tongue as he delved inside her panties and lowered them to just below her ass.  Then got her attention with a hard swat on one buttock.
Surprise more than the sudden sting from his slap had Charlotte jerking her head back, the warmth spreading over her cheek matching that covering her face.  “What was that for?” she asked, praying her voice didn’t reveal the shocking pleasure spreading from her tingling butt down to her sheath.
“A little example of what I’ll do if you don’t give me the control I’ll insist on when we get to your room.  Think hard and fast-what the hell is your name?”
She couldn’t help it.  She giggled like a teenager on her first date instead of a grown woman about to have raunchy sex with a complete stranger.  “Charlie,” she told him, liking the sound of her abbreviated name, and liking him, gruff exterior and all.
Pressing the Start button on the elevator panel, he responded with a wry grin tugging the corners of his mouth.  “I’m Wes, and,” he squeezed the buttock he slapped, “if you don’t want those doors to open on your exposed, red ass, I suggest you answer me.  Fast.”
Charlotte could think of only one way to respond to the rough urgency she heard in his voice, the same rough urgency spreading through her, brought on by that stimulating smack and threatening to send her spinning out of control soon.  “Yes, I’m sure.”

QUESTIONS:
Are you working on a new book right now?
I have just finished an erotic spanking/menage suspense and am starting a Virginia Bluebloods Christmas novella next.

How many books have you written? Are they all spanking fiction?
Blackmailed was my 20th book!  All of my books contain erotic spanking scenes.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I had been reading spanking erotica for a while and finally got tired of reading the same thing over and over-bratty girl gets punished, complains and cries through spanking then acts up again and again.  I wrote Susie’s Awakening to show the difference between erotic spanking and disciplinary spanking.  Even though I’ve written numerous scenes where the spanking started out as a punishment, it always turns into erotic foreplay, most times surprising my female character with her response to the stimulating pain.

Do you have a specific writing style?
Yes-I include both the male and female character’s points of view when writing, most times in the same scene.  In the ten years I’ve been doing this, I’ve only received 2 negative comments-all other reader & reviewer comments on this style have loved it.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?
The book I just finished-still untitled!- is about a sister determined to find clues to her sister’s disappearance and the sheriff and Scotland Yard detective who don’t want her interfering with their investigation.  Not only can she not resist getting involved, she also can’t resist either of these guys or her response to their means of keeping her line!
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Dialog.  I’m a quiet person by nature-would rather listen than converse-so I struggle with dialog, especially lengthy conversational scenes.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
Linda Howard-she is so good at blending suspense, romance, humor and hot sex scenes!  I get it all with her books.

Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
We traveled extensively when the kids were younger, both throughout the states and abroad and I was a military brat and lived in several places growing up.  I pull on those experiences mostly for my locations.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Thank you!  I love hearing from you-both good and bad.
What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, and logistical) in bringing it to life?
In Blackmailed, as well as the rest of the series, I chose to challenge myself by giving the female character’s difficult physical challenges to work with.  In Blindsided, Eve is blind; in Bind Me To You, Camille has dealt with a stillborn baby and cruel rejection from its father; in Surrender To Me, Shea’s story was the hardest as she needed pain to divert her from her OCD; and in Blackmailed, Charlotte led an over-protective, sheltered childhood because of childhood leukemia.  These made for huge challenges when it came to deciding on the erotic content-which I enjoyed but not sure I can be as successful if I try anything similar again!
What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
My favorite chapters are always the first and last.  I love the initial challenge and excitement of that first meeting-and first spanking!-and, of course, the moment when my couple has resolved all their differences.

A FEW PERSONAL INSIGHTS:
If you were attending a Halloween party, what would your costume be and why?
Raggedy Ann because my husband and I’s first part we attended as ‘boyfriend and girlfriend’ we went as Raggedy Ann & Andy-wonderful memory.
Are you a morning or night person?
Morning-I crash early!
What is the best thing you have done in your life?
Married my husband and had our daughters.
What are your favorite hobbies?
Reading-DUH!-and I love working puzzles of any kind.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
No, but I do believe in lust at first sight!
Does Prince Charming exist?
Yes, I’m married to him.
Do you use a pseudonym? If so how did you choose it?
Yes.  BJ are my initials and Wane is my husband’s name (Wayne).

Thanks for sharing,

Anita

Location, Location, Location #99cent #HistoricalWestern #TGTBTG

Warning this is not a hot erotic series - sweet and sensual instead.

Now Available for PreOrder

One of the most important elements of a story is where it’s located, so I had to ask the other authors in The Good, the Bad and the Ghostly where they planned to set their story.

Here is what they told me.

Keta Diablo said:
Comes an Outlaw is set in the hot, arid climate of Arizona. The land was as wild and dangerous as the people it called forth. And there’s so much to love about such a location…the desert, the mountains, and the wide cast of creatures that inhabit it.

Anita Philmar said:
West River Center is no longer using that name. It is now Shelton, NE. A city in the central part of Nebraska. McKee’s Ghost sits in the middle of the heartland and touches all the elements which makes this part of the country great. It is also known for raising Shelton horse which is the job of my hero.

Blaire Edens said:
My story has two main locations:  Reno and Virigina City, Nevada. During the 1880s, Virginia City was booming. Because of the Comstock Lode, it drew people from all over the country, many of whom were sure they’d strike gold. Literally. A young Mark Twain was drawn to Virginia City. Originally he went looking for gold but soon found more reliable pay at the Territorial Enterprise, the local newspaper. Reno was a growing city and the two were connected by the Virginia Truckee Railroad. I was able to find maps of both cities, train schedules, even daily newspapers from the period. As I’ve gotten deeper and deeper into the research, I’ve begun to feel like I could navigate both cities if I were magically transported back in time. I’ve spend quite a bit of time in Nevada and I love the state and the people. It’s a magical place that has much more to offer than Vegas. Not that I don’t love the bright lights! I toyed with several other cites, but these two just felt like the perfect backdrop for a Wild West ghost story.

Charlene Radddon said:
My story is set in the fictitious town of Boomtown, Colorado in the vicinity of Pikes Peak.

Patty Sherry-Crews said:

My story takes place in St. Louis to start with, but then the action moves to Tucson, AZ--a place I love. Most of the action happens either in the hotel or on a cattle ranch, but there is a section where Aaron takes Healy out on horseback to see some of the sights in the desert.

Margo Collins said:
Wild, Wild Ghost is set in the fictional town of Rittersburg, Texas, which is based on a combination of several towns in the Texas Hill Country—Marble Falls and Fredericksburg, in particular. When Ruby and Trip arrive, the town is still brand-new, settled by German immigrants who are not open to outsiders (though they did put out a call for help from the Tremayne PSI Agency!), and part of what was still very much frontier country.

Erin Hayes said:
My story is set in Carolina City, Nevada, which is based on the real life Virginia City. Virginia City used to be a boomtown with a silver mine, but once the output there dried up, the city declined. I created a whole new city, just because I wanted to tweak a bit of history and geography, yet remain true to how the Wild West was.

Andrea Downing said:
Buffalo, Wyoming, is absolutely steeped in history—and probably has a few ghosts as well.  It was the main town—if you could call it that—for the ranchers, mostly British, who set up on the Powder River.  In the early 1800s one of them, Moreton Frewen, even had twenty miles of telephone put in from his ranch to the town so he could order supplies.  Later, it was where the hanging of Cattle Kate was planned, and it subsequently played a part in the Johnson County War.  It was also the nearest town to the Hole in the Wall gangs and Butch Cassidy is said to have stayed at the hotel there..

Despite her growing attraction to her captor, however, his plans for her remain a mystery. She is to be delivered to a man in Boston, but she knows neither who he is nor what he wants with her. Excerpt:
He wrapped one enormous hand around my waist, gripping the small of my back, pulled me into him, and kissed me.
Oh.
Oh, God.
The shock of it broke through the wall of my anger with the force of a cannonball, eradicating it as though it had never existed, and I was lost to sensation.
His lips were hard, bruising, forcing me to yield. I didn’t hesitate. I parted my lips and his tongue reached out to tangle with mine, stroking over me slowly, as though savoring the taste of me, coaxing me to respond in kind. I hesitantly brushed my tongue against his and he growled, actually growled, low in his throat. The feral sound made my belly flip and my knees tremble, but it didn’t matter, because he was there, supporting me. One of his hands remained at my waist while the other moved up my back to grip the nape of my neck, and he lifted me so that only the very tips of my toes touched the floor, and my breasts pushed against the hard, hot wall of his chest.
I ran my hands up over his arms, reveling in the feel of him, his muscles bunched and corded as he supported me easily. And then I did something I’d wanted to do from the first moment I’d seen him. I tangled my fingers in his wild brown hair.
And the kiss grew hotter.
His fingers knotted in my hair and he pulled me back so that I arched against him. The hand at my waist moved around to my belly and then up… and up…
When the backs of his fingers touched the underside of my breast, I groaned. Every part of me was aflame and I ached with need. I couldn’t seem to get close enough to him. Without conscious thought, I lifted my leg over his, ready to climb him, fitting him against me.
The shock of his hardness against my core made bolts of excitement shoot up my spine. He was so hard, hard everywhere, and I… I had never felt so soft…
I had no idea what came next, no idea what more he wanted from me, but I gave myself over to him in that moment. Where he led, I would go.

A #Western Historical Romance about a #Ghosthunter for #TGTBTG

Warning this is not a hot erotic series - sweet and sensual instead.

Every author in this box set is busy creating their story but I managed to get them to stop for a few minutes to answer a few question. Read them over the next several weeks.

Here is today’s question:  Seeing as this box set also includes a romance, which characters in your story do you see getting together?

Keta Diablo said:
Well, I hope I can count on my hero and heroine to find their happily-ever-after, although they have many obstacles to overcome first. But that’s what romance is all about, right? One has to kiss many frogs before they find their prince.

Anita Philmar said:
My agent, Ruth Olivia Wilson and Konnor McKee fall for each other from the moment they meet. The problem is his ex-girlfriend, a helpful ghost and Ruth’s job are getting in the way.

Blaire Edens said:
Cole Swansby and Annabelle Lawson *might* be perfect for each other but there are a couple of problems. She’s hell-bent on getting back to Kentucky and her grandmother. He’s so convinced that there’s no such thing as ghosts and her ability to speak to them scares him. The only way they can get together is if they’re both willing to open their minds and their hearts to each other and that’s a tall order.

Charlene Radddon said:
My agent, Burke Jameson, is the hero. The heroine is a woman who shot her abusive husband and believes he's dead. Instead, he's alive and "haunting" the area. But there's a real ghost in my story as well. Burke and the "widow" fall in love as she tries to help him solve the mystery of the paranormal activity in the area.

Patty Sherry-Crews said:
There are two love stories in my book.

Nat Tremayne assigns Healy to this case for a reason other than to solve the case. Nat wants to put Healy out of her comfort zone. He wants her to find adventure and romance.
Healy and Aaron meet at the hotel and the sparks fly. When he asks what she’s doing in Tucson she teases him and tells him he’s the detective so he can figure it out. He can’t get a read on her and thinks she’s everything from a prostitute to a serial killer (term not invented yet). He’s a concrete thinker and Healy completely unmoors him.

Healy has had her heart-broken once and thinks she’s too odd a person for men to like. Aaron along with some mysterious props that appear along the way change her view of herself. She blossoms in the desert.

When Aaron gets a telegram instructing him to locate a lady posing as a mail-order bride in order to kill men, Healy and Aaron’s cases converge.

There is a secondary love story between Abbott and Cora’s ghost. Cora died when they had some unresolved issues. Healy has to act as marriage counselor to put Cora’s ghost to rest, and as a result of talking things out, Abbott and Cora remember the love they shared.

Margo Collins said: If they can just move beyond their respective pasts and learn to work together, I think Ruby and Trip might just have a shot…

Erin Hayes said:
I feel like Hattie would get mad at me if I revealed it. So my lips are sealed!
Andrea Downing said:
Well, Lizzie and her husband, Colby, of the 1800s are very much in love but she needs to get back to her contemporary, 2016, life.  Will it happen for them?  You’re going to have to read the book to find out…

Up for Pre Order any day now.

Desiring her to be his little Kat, August declares he wishes to purchase her outright, for the intention of marriage. She hastily agrees so that she might leave with him. Perhaps she will find a better life away from the care of her strict nanny and the despicable Mr. Edwin.
What Kathryn hopes is a fresh start turns out to be a constant reminder of those she left behind at the academy. With the threat of harm to her family looming overhead, she must find it in herself to trust August.

Excerpt :
The gas lamp nearest the station flickered and fizzled out, basking the station in pure darkness. “What the blazes?” she said, standing and stumbling as her eyes had not yet adjusted to the newfound darkness.
From the opposite side of the platform, a dark figure basked in the shadows of night jumped the tracks. Kathryn could not tell if it was a man or an animal, the way it moved with stealthy precision. She stumbled away from the bench and back several feet before she felt a warm set of arms cover her mouth and grip her waist, pulling forcefully against her.
She tried to scream, to shout at him to get away from her, but the words could not find her lips, his thick palm forcing her to just remember to breathe as he covered her lips and nose. Kathryn kicked and flailed, the second man, further restraining her form. A needle pierced the skin of her neck, as the second man sedated her, forcing her body to go rigid and unable to fight back. Paralyzed, they carried Kathryn from the train to their carriage waiting just a few meters away. The drug they had injected her with made it impossible to fight back, but her mind had not been clouded or darkened. Fear swept through her insides, forcing her heart to race and her stomach to churn.

A #FallingIntoLove Read by @LyndiLamont #romance

Genre: Steamy Fantasy Romance Novella
 photo IlonasWolf-299x400_zps19fd3ee4.jpg

Interview with Sir Rolf of Klosterlupe:

LL: Thanks for sitting down with me today, Sir Rolf. Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m a knight of the King’s Guard, sworn to protect the royal family of Velosia.

LL: I understand you have some kind of special power. Can you tell us about it? I promise it is safe to do so.

I’m a werewolf.

LL: When did you discover you were able to shift into wolf form?

I was just a babe the first time I shifted. My parents had no idea what to do with me.

LL: Did you have special education or training to hone your power?

Yes. I was taken to Klosterlupe, the headquarters of a knightly order, many of whom are werewolves. There I was educated, trained to become a knight and taught to control my powers.

LL: Do you consider your power a gift or a curse? Why?

I admit there are times when it is useful to assume wolf form, but for the most part I consider it a curse. Especially after being cursed by Bruno of Grimmdorn, which left me unable to shift back into human form for many months.

LL: How does having this power complicate your life?

Shapeshifters are maligned and mistrusted by the Velosian people. We must hide in plain sight, or if that is not possible, in the shadows.

LL: If you could swap your power for another one, what would it be?

Anything else, as long as I can remain human.

Blurb:

Excerpt: (PG-13)

She sat frozen, her back to the tree. Oh, gods, don't let it see me. She tried to cast an invisibility spell, but to no avail. The wolf looked at her, golden eyes gleaming, mouth open, showing off large, sharp teeth. She closed her eyes and gripped her throat with both hands. Quaking with terror, she listened as the animal padded toward her. She felt its hot breath on her cheek.

Opening her eyes a slit, she stared into the face of the wolf. Sad eyes stared at her, and her fears receded. Perhaps he'd been tamed. She reached out with what was left of her powers, but sensed no immediate danger. "Good wolf," she stammered.

She held out one shaking fist, and the wolf sniffed it before licking her knuckles. It moved closer, sniffing her clothing. To her surprise, the animal hunkered down beside her and laid its head on her leg. Carefully, she touched it, stroking the soft fur.

Relief flooded through her. Saved by a wolf, of all creatures. "Thank the gods you showed up when you did. I'd no wish to be ravished by the likes of him."

The wolf lifted its head and seemed to smile up at her, mouth open, tongue lolling.

She smiled at the canine as she continued to pet it. "Grateful I am for you rescuing me, but 'tis not exactly what a girl dreams of. Where's my knight on a white steed? 'Tis he who is supposed to do the rescuing."

When the wolf lowered his head, sniffing between her legs, she laughed and pushed it away. "Rude creature."

The animal responded by sitting up and resting its head on her breast. She put both arms around it and hugged it close, dropping a kiss on its head. "Do not misunderstand, Sir Wolf, but I still wish you were a knight. A strong, handsome knight like my Werner."

The familiar sadness filled her at the memory of her husband. "I miss him so much, you know. Dagmar says another knight will come for me, a handsome knight to protect us and make sweet, passionate love to me."

The wolf whined and raised his head to lick her cheek. Laughing, she tried to push him away, but he licked her full on the mouth. She closed her eyes, stunned when her powers came rushing back, like a flood of magic coursing around her.

Turning aside, she summoned her basket to her side. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the wolf jump up, staring at the basket. Her vision seemed to blur as the wolf's face slowly became humanlike, then shifted back. She must have hit her head harder than she'd thought if she was seeing things. She closed her eyes and shook her head, but the aching had receded.

When she peeked again, the wolf was gone, and a naked man crouched in front of her. A handsome, well-built man with shaggy brown hair and golden brown eyes.

#TGTBTG Psychic Specters Investigators – aka #GhostHunters a New Box Set I #AmWriting

I’m very excited about a new box set that’s going up for pre-order around August 15. I wanted to let my readers know what I’m working on and share with you what others in the box set are doing.

Here is a question that I asked my fellow contributors and their responses.

Also, warning - This is not an erotic box set - sensual to sweet but it has some great stories you're still going to love.

I understand all the stories in The Good, The Bad and The Ghostly are connected to the P.S.I. Agency in St. Louis. How is your character connected and does he/she have any special paranormal abilities?

Keta Diablo said:

Psychic Specters Investigations = P.S.I. Agency. We decided to connect all the stories in the anthology with a common thread. And we knew we wanted to write about ghosts and cowboys. Thus, the Agency was created and its location would be St. Louis, MO. Some stories might have one of the main characters working for the Agency; others might have a secondary character connected to the Agency.

In my story, Comes An Outlaw, a secondary character worked for P.S.I. before his death. He plays a minor but important part in the story. He doesn’t have special paranormal abilities, but rather held an innate interest in spirits and the afterlife when he walked the earth. As a result of his dealings with ghosts, he’s able to transcend the veil between life and death.

Patty Sherry-Crews said:

My character, Healy Harrison, is an agent for PSI. Unfortunately for Healy she sees dead people. This fact has made her early life hell. She became a social recluse and decided to move to the anonymity of a large city before she ends up becoming the eccentric maiden aunt of the family.
But she has learned how to turn her curse to her advantage, seeing and communicating with ghosts for profit.

Blaire Edens said:

My main male character, Cole Swanson, is a native of St. Louis. He’s an up and coming agent with Tremayne PSI who’s just opened an office in Reno. But he has one big secret: He doesn’t believe in ghosts. Instead of solving cases using paranormal abilities, he relies on logic and deductive reasoning. It’s worked just fine until he picks up a case that has nothing to do with rats in the attic or loose roof tiles and everything to do with ghosts.
My female lead, Annabelle Lawson, dreams of the dead. After she contracted scarlet fever, the dead come to her every night in an attempt to contact the living. On the run from an abusive father, she spots an ad for Tremayne agents and thinks it might be the perfect job for her. All she needs is enough money to get back to her granny in Kentucky and she’ll be safe from her father.

Anita Philmar said:

My character, Ruth Olivia Wilson, R.O.W. is an agent for Tremayne PSI Agency. She is a medium and talks to dead people. She has travel across the country, helping people free themselves of ghost. She knows how painful losing someone can be and wants to make sure bring people here on earth peace but the spirits as well.

Charlene Radddon said:

My hero, Burke Jameson, is an experienced agent for the agency and has had strong instincts regarding spirits and supernatural activity since he was young.

Both my heroine and hero are agents for the Tremayne Agency. Ruby Silver is a former demon-hunter who comes to the agency with a number of paranormal ghost-busting skills—and a lot of baggage. Her newly assigned partner, Trip Austin, doesn't have any paranormal skills, but he does have a lot of experience helping the living deal with the their ghosts (both literal and figurative).

Erin Hayes said:
Hattie Hart was a saloon girl in a rough part of St. Louis who was plagued by seeing ghosts ever since she was little. She was rescued from this life by Nat Tremayne, although she has never met the mysterious leader of the Tremayne PSI Agency. For the past five years, she’s traveled around the country investigating paranormal disturbances, although she has disturbances of her own.

Andrea Downing said:
My agent, Dudley Worksop, comes from the Denver agency.  The PSI agency has done so well in finding ghosts and helping them that they’ve had to open a Denver branch! Dudley is an Englishman with very great powers of communicating with ghosts others may not be able to see and hear.  He is a very precise person, too.  These characteristics seem to run in the family because his descendent, Malcolm Worksop, who appears towards the end of the book, is very similar.

Wow, after reading all of this can’t you see why I’m excited by this box set.

Scarlet Nights 3: Feasting With the Enemy
by Kate Hill

Blurb:
After more than a century sharing a bed and fighting at each other's backs, vampire warriors Blair and May have forged an unbreakable bond.

Now the mysterious New Reign is seeking additional members. Their philosophy--recruit or destroy. Using mind manipulation, they stir up dark memories from the past to tempt Blair and May into killing each other.

Given the chance to resurrect his murdered first wife and children, will Blair now sacrifice the woman he loves--his wife and blood child, May?

Excerpt:
“His affection for Blair has never been a secret,” Daria pointed out. “I knew that at one time Hamilton desired him, but for a very long time Blair has been nothing more than a good friend and blood son to him. Hamilton had nothing to fear from me, either.”

“Nor from me,” May said.

Both women and Giacomo looked at Blair.

Blair’s eyes blazed. “So I’m the one, is that it? It’s my fault he didn’t come clean straight away. I’m the monster who would never forgive him.”

“Good lord, Blair, you’ve never lost your flair for drama,” Daria said.

“Sweetheart, we know you can be a bit overzealous, that’s all,” May told him.

Giacomo said, “The question is, will this affect how any of us work with Hamilton?”

“Like Daria said. He’s my blood father and my oldest friend. If you doubt my love for him or my ability to do my duty, then to hell with you.”

“Are you finished now?” May demanded. “Do you feel better?”

“May, I hate it when you talk to me in that tone.”

“Then get a hold of yourself.”

“We all agree to use the information Hamilton provided and move on without mistrust or anger?” Daria asked.

“Hamilton trusted us in the end,” Giacomo said. “He told us everything we needed to know. I don’t think his loyalty is in question.”

“Of course it’s not,” Blair said. “I didn’t think for a second he would turn to the New Reign.”

“All right then.” Daria leaned back in her chair, resting her elbows on the arms and making a steeple with her polished fingertips. “Let’s move on and discuss watch schedules and training time.”

“Until we know more about the reason behind this attack on Hamilton, I think both he and May should take particular precautions,” Blair said. “Hamilton is off street duty for a while, at least until he heals, and I think May should stay off patrol for a bit as well.”

“No,” May said firmly. “No way, Blair. I indulged your paranoia last night, but I’m not being confined to desk work.”

“May, we don’t know if they were targeting you or recruiting Hamilton,” Blair insisted.

“They’re targeting everyone who’s not on their side. I’m not special.”

You are to me. His psychic voice echoed in her head.

Being your wife doesn’t give me special privileges. I’m a warrior just like you. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten that again.

Blair was about to react, but Daria interrupted. “You both have legitimate points. Blair, you can’t expect May to hide forever and May, Blair’s suggestion that you proceed with caution is a sensible one. I suggest a compromise.”

“What sort of compromise?” May asked warily.
