How To Woo…A Reluctant Bride—Lyndi Lamont
A marriage of convenience, nothing more…until darkly handsome Evan Channing and demure Lydia Blatchford meet. The rules are simple for such an arrangement. No expectations, no illusions of anything more. But the rules are about to change…

Excerpt from How To Woo…A Reluctant Bride—Lyndi Lamont, steamy Victorian romance:

She licked her lips then plunged ahead. “I know how these things work. Arranged marriages, that is. I won’t expect fidelity from you.”

His shocked expression surprised her. “Is that what you think, Lydia?

That I’m marrying you with the intention of cheating on you?”

“Perhaps not now,” she said. “But in a few years… It’s not as if ours is a love match. I won’t cut up a fuss if you decide to take a mistress. As long as you are discreet.”

“How very… sophisticated of you,” he said, his tone dry enough to parch a desert.

She took a deep breath before continuing. “And once I’ve produced the requisite heir and spare, I assume I’ll be free to seek my pleasure elsewhere.”

The thunderous look on his face startled her and she stepped back.

“You will do no such thing,” he said fiercely, reaching for her. “Ours may not be a love match now, but I fully intend to see it turns into one.”

With that, he pulled her into his embrace, trapping her arms between them as his encircled her shoulders and waist.

Covering her mouth with his, he kissed her with a heady combination of passion and anger. Her resistance crumbled in the face of his onslaught. She clutched at his lapels and returned his kiss, even parting her lips when his tongue probed them. Overwhelmed by the sensations his lips provoked, she let her eyes drift shut as she clung to him.

When he let her go, he was still visibly upset. “There will be no more talk of infidelity. Have I made myself clear, Lydia?”

Chris Redding - License to Nerd

Blurb License to Nerd

Madison West appears on Peter Quincy’s doorstep as expected, when her husband, Charlie, disappears. Peter had been her husband’s best man and had promised to take care of Madison if something happened to him. Neither Madison nor Peter are what they seem, but will their lies to each other to save the world, instead fail to save them from each other?

He pushed non-existent glasses up his nose, having forgotten he’d worn contacts today. An ex-girlfriend suggested them. She’d left him in the dust long before he could think to purchase them.
Now he had but he still felt glasses sliding down his face.
A glance at his computer screen told him the knocker was not any of his colleagues. A woman glanced over her shoulder in the image from the surveillance camera installed outside in the alley.
His eyes narrowed. Who could she be? The resolution was not as good as he liked, but the new monitor was on order. If he’d remembered to order it.
He needed to start writing things down.
Sighing he pushed an intercom button. “The front door is on Main Street. We don’t let anyone--”
     “Please. Someone’s following me.”
     “But you’re not allowed—“
     “I’m scared.”
The hair on the back of his neck went up. She was truly in need of saving. Without hesitation he unlocked the door. “Come in.”
She rushed into the room. Her momentum would have knocked down a smaller man.
     “Oh, thank you.”
She glanced over her shoulder at the closed and locked door.
     “Sit. What’s wrong?”
Q, as his colleagues called him, wished one of the real detectives was here. He was just the gadget guy. His days of cloak and dagger were long gone. And those days hadn’t ended well.
That's when he realized who she was. A flood of feelings he'd thought long dead washed over him. Madison. Why here? Why now? Why her?

Stone by Rie Warren Presented by @GoddessFish

Welcome to the cover reveal for STONE: AT YOUR SERVICE an erotic romance by Rie Warren, coming September 25th to a book retailer near you! This post is part of a tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions.

Rie will award a Carolina Bad Boys swag pack including an ARC of Stone to a randomly drawn winner during the tour via the rafflecopter at the end of this post (International winner).

Check out this gorgeous cover and find out more about the upcoming release:

And here's what the story is about!

One bad boy mechanic, one sexy romance writer, and an impossible situation. Hell on wheels? More like hell in high heels.

Bad boy mechanic Josh Stone likes to get his hands dirty any way he can—the filthier, the better. Ever since his wife walked out on him and their young son, he’s only had room in his heart for two loves: the kid and cars.

Roped into playing his best buddy’s gay boyfriend during a romance writers convention, the player meets the girl who’s gonna rock his world. Leelee Songchild. Shy, bashful, beautiful Leelee who blushes at the drop of a hat yet writes hardcore smut to rival Josh’s backlist of Penthouse Forum.

The only problem is his hands are tied. Josh can’t stab his old friend/fake lover in the back even though all he wants to do is take luscious Leelee to bed, and maybe, love her. When the truth comes out, all hell breaks loose. Too bad romance is just for books.

WARNING: Uncompromisingly hot sex, hilarious hijinks, and heartfelt romance—STONE is a triple threat.

How about a sneak peek to whet your appetite?

Leelee. Holy. Jesus. Christ. Why is she doin’ this to me?

“What the hell are you wearin’?” I asked before my mouth caught up with my brain.

“Oh! I don’t usually dress like this. It’s for the convention.” Peering down at herself, she smoothed one hand along her hip and angled her ankle behind her.

She continued talking, but I was done listening because every ounce of my attention was aimed at the disarming display—disarming display? I need to stop readin’ Nicky’s shit—of . . . hotness in front of me. This dress was going into the Handjob Hall of Fame. V-neck, off the shoulder, down to mid-thigh, rose-colored. Leelee’s hair was twisty and curly and perfect for grabbing while I rode her hard from behind. And the shoes on her feet should be outlawed in all fifty states for being unlawful very-fucking-hot violations. They were a deeper shade than her dress, spiky, and showing sexy toe cleavage.

Rie is the badass, sassafras author of Sugar Daddy and the Don’t Tell series–a breakthrough trilogy that crosses traditional publishing boundaries beginning with In His Command.
A Yankee transplant who has traveled the world, Rie started out a writer—causing her college professor to blush over her erotic poetry without one ounce of shame. Not much has changed. She swapped pen for paintbrushes and followed her other love during her twenties. From art school to marriage to children and many a wild and wonderful journey in between, Rie has come home to her calling. Her work has been called edgy, daring, and some of the sexiest smut around.

LONG TIME WALK ON WATER  by Joan Barbara Simon

Summary:

Emily Thompson, Rose to her friends, emigrates to the motherland, England, in search of a better life. It will be hard work for the young mother in this rich man’s country; above all she must also come to terms with this unknown phenomenon; di Hinglish dem.

James Dunbar. Jack is what he answers to. Picking his way through the mucky incidents of life, he consoles himself that things will get better.

They happen to meet at a bus-stop, Emily and Jack.

A tale of how the humble live whilst waiting for their dreams to come true.

*

In the following excerpt, news flies faster than Lester Piggot (a famous English jockey and him small like a squirrel); fast as a shame from the J.A. (as Jamaicans call their country) to the UK.

Martha Brae, October —, 19—

Dear Rose,

I’m sure everything in England is going fine for you. As soon as I open your letter and parcel, I sit down to write and tell you thank you, that Marlene and Leroy overjoy with the things you send them. You know me don’t have a good head like you, and me is not someone love pen and paper, so I make it short. Marlene draw this little picture for you. She say you must make sure you keep it because when she come to England she is going to look and see if you still got it. The child cheeky as a shame.
You say everything is fine and I believe you, but me also hear bad story them from other people. I hear how black people can’t go out at night and have to fear the skinhead them like the blacks in the fifties did afraid of the Teddy Boys. But because you don’t go out so much you probably don’t get to hear this. And other people talk how difficult it is to get a job or somewhere to live because the white people them prejudice and want to squash you up in a cooby like a chicken. I know you doing alright but I don’t know if I could pick up myself go to a country where people look down at me. Is enough that them behave like that right here in Jamaica without you go abroad for the same treatment and get spit on even more. The black sometimes as bad as the white people them and ignorance spread out all over the world.
We talking about white. Me hear you have a white boyfriend. Is true or is not true? You don’t have to hide it from me. Me hear him is one old old white man you meet at the bus-stop and him pay you fare everywhere you want to go in London. Him was one chaufur, or how you call it, and use to drive the big politician you see in the television up and down the country. Is true? Me also hear him and Richard is best friend. Is how come you don’t tell me the half of what happening over there, Rose? Is how come I have to find out everything second hand? People them asking me if me know this and if me know that, I must know because my good friend in England. I don’t know what to say and I don’t know what to believe when the people them talk. Don’t you think it’s time for you to put me in the picture?
It look like I am going to have another child next year. I don’t need no doctor to tell me I’m nine weeks pregnant. I don’t tell nobody - them will see for themselves in time. Glad him gone. Me did chase him out. Him too little and nasty. One more mouth to feed, I would like to know what the Lord have in mind for me? You know what it say in the Bible, to them who got shall be given and from them who don’t have shall be taken away. Well at least that was a piece of clever thinking you did going to England. Now you move out of the one camp into the other while me still sitting right there as always with no way of getting out. Maybe me fix up myself with one a them Hinglanman come back to J.A. and got a little something in him pocket. Who knows, such a nice girl like me (smile).
Well, this was just a thank you letter and to give you my little piece of news. Take care of yourself and don’t forget that I’m waiting for explanations.

Your friend,
Junie.

The novel is not a typical story where you know how things will end even before you've even finished the first page. I promise, you won't! Not until the very last words. And it's more than a mere love story. It’s about faith; about loving the life you see ahead of you, in your dreams. And allowing no one to take it away from you.’
(Joan Barbara Simon, interviewed by Lucy Walton for Female First)

~Excerpt~

Caitlin was a sight for sore eyes. She was beautiful. Her petite frame was perfectly accented by the curves of her figure. And her brown eyes and coffee-brown skin was smooth, creamy.

Standing at attention, she did not meet his gaze. Though it was customary not to do as a sign of military courtesy, he could tell she was not doing it for that reason. Her gaze was different. Circling her, he tried to see if he could catch her watching him out of the corner of her eye. In fact, she appeared to be staring blankly ahead.

Peering directly at her, he spoke in a soft tone. At ease.

She relaxed.

Cate. Can you hear me?

Yes, sir, she responded mechanically.

Pain pierced his insides. She was definitely not there. Keegan placed his hands on his hips and hung his head in defeat. The one thing that was supposed to go right did not. For whatever reason, they had placed her in a deeper state of mental control than shed ever been in. He controlled the hostile emotions brewing with him. Touching her face gently, he felt her icy skin.

This is unacceptable! Not here. I will not let this happen here. Not under my command.

Chief, listen up, he said in an authoritative tone. He knew in this state, it was the only way he could speak to her and still have her respond.

Yes, sir. Her gaze became even more distant.

Her response fueled his anger. You are going to hightail it down to the doc and receive a full examination. Tell him it is based on my orders. He will know what to do. Is that clear?

Yes, sir.

Knowing that she was under the influence of cryo neurotransmitters, Keegan figured the only way to combat it was to get someone to reverse it. They usually wore off once she was away from the stimulus triggers for a long period of time. But considering her stimulus triggers were high-ranking officers in uniform and combat situations, being around here meant she was going to be in a drone zone for a very long time. The last thing he needed was a zombie on board, especially one in charge of the lives others.

Only the jerks in psyche warfare thought doing this to someone would be a good idea. As long as he was running the ship, none of that would be allowed. There werent going to be any super zombies soldiers on board his ship. And hed rollover in his grave before he let them do it to his wife.

After you come back from the doc, you will report to me, understood?

Yes, sir.

Are there any questions?

No, sir.

Dismissed.

She did an about face before leaving the room. Keegan clasped his hands behind his back. In the blink of an eye, his joy had turned to sorrow. Now faced with the responsibility of looking after his wife, he wondered how could he handle the burden of command and still protect the woman he loved.

My Passion by Ron Hartman

Today, I have Ron Hartman joining me to talk about his passion.

What is passion?  To me passion is intensity, a fire that burns long and hot.  It is a response that lasts long after the initial sensation has been lost in time.   Passions can run the gamut, from a love of football to a love of a woman, from hobbies to careers.  I’ve been told I’m a passionate person, that I burn hotter than most.  I think that also means I feel things to a greater extent them some, which may be why I have so many passions.  To me, passion is about walking through life with your arms wide open, taking what comes and experiencing it to its greatest extent possible.  Consequently my passions are as varied as a summer day in Iowa (which I’m passionate about, by the way).
I’m passionate about my family.  They are my center.  Without them, nothing else is worth living for.  Everything I do is about improving life for my wife and kids.  Sometimes, on my worst days, I see one of my kids smile, or my wife says she loves me, and it suddenly doesn’t seem so bad.  My first book was dedicated to my wife.  My second, The Prophecy Chronicles: Prophecy Revealed, is dedicated to my kids.  I would die for them, although I’d rather live for them, and I think they’d prefer that as well.
I’m passionate about my writing.  Nothing quite opens me up, or fulfills me, as my writing.  I learn so much, not only about myself, but also about my characters and the world they live in, when I write.  I always start with an outline when I write, but what really fills me with passion is when the unexpected happens.  When I put the first word on the page, and I suddenly realize what I’d planned wasn’t right at all, that these characters have a completely different plan in mind.
I’m passionate about my faith.  I am a Christian, and I’m not afraid to admit it.  I’ve traveled the world as a missionary, and I’ve seen miracles.  Children have been fed, people healed, and lives changed by the power of faith.  How can you see something wonderful and unexplainable and not be passionate about it?
I’m passionate about football.  I love football.  Intensity and fire, the words I used to describe passion, are at the center of football.  If I wasn’t a middle-aged man of average height and build, I’d love to be a professional football player.  It doesn’t matter where I am in life, or where I find myself, I am always an Eddyville Rocket, an Iowa Hawkeye, and a Chicago Bear, in that order.  My passion for football has taught me to never give up and never back down.
I’m passionate about life.  I believe life is to be lived.  Note, I said, lived, not lived.  Life is an exclamation point, not a question mark.  It is meant to be explored.  We’re given five senses in this life, and I believe we should use them.  I want to feel, smell, see, taste, and touch life.  After all, none of us get out of this alive, so we should enjoy it while we can.
Finally, I’m passionate about people.  I love to hear the stories of others.  I want to know where you came from, what you do, and what drives you.  After all, it is only in the sharing that we learn more about ourselves, and in turn learn more about the world around us.  In my life I’ve learned powerful lessons from a marine that traveled the world, a humanitarian that is changing the world in Africa, and a farm girl from Iowa who has changed my world.  One is a brother, one a mentor, and one my best friend and wife.

Passions are as varied and wonderful as the colors in an artist’s tapestry, but I always want to learn more.  I’m always looking for the next challenge, the next mystery to solve, or the next friend to make.  So share with me.  Help fuel my fire.  Tell me, what are you passionate about?

PROPHECY REVEALED
By
Ron Hartman

BLURB:

EXCERPTS

He heard a noise and turned to see Meadow Song walking across the map room at the tower's top. He walked through the double doors to greet her and was surprised when she pulled him in close, hugging him tight. His left arm wrapped around her waist and his hand slid up her back until it cupped the base of her neck. She tilted her head up as he leaned in and their lips brushed together. Her tongue darted in his mouth, soft and sweet, and a hot rush bloomed inside him as he pressed into her, responding to her need with his own. Barely registering over his desire, a part of Daniel's mind whispered, so different from Ashley. The feel, the taste…

He gasped and pulled away. Meadow Song looked up at him, her eyebrows raised. "What is it?" Her voice was low and husky.

Daniel hesitated before breathing, "I-I love you."

Her face lit with a soft radiance. "And I you. Why do you stop?"

Daniel's arm fell away and he stepped back. It was too easy to lose his resolve when he stood in her warm embrace. "I can't," he whispered. He closed his eyes and saw Ashley. "I may never see them again, but I can't betray them."

Meadow Song frowned before understanding dawned. "Ashley is a fortunate woman." Daniel's heart wrenched at the pain in her whisper.

Excerpt
I walked into Boss man's office for our Monday morning stand-up meeting at the Uptown Bulletin.  As usual, we were waiting for Ed our copy guy.  My co-worker Nate the Snake was making nice with Boss Man, and Boss man's secretary,  Lucy but I call her Looney Bin.  This week she's in an outlandish, peacock blue, pressed on lamée outfit.
First up on the agenda was the Gay Pride Parade.  “I think Wrigley should go.”  Nate the snake whined.  “She’s in charge of the Entertainment section, not me.”
I countered with my schedule, “I have to be at the Art Festival which brought in thousands of dollars last week.  They’re giving the paper an award and they’re expecting me.  I’m already scheduled with two other events that Saturday.”
“I'm not going.  It's your event.  You figure it out.” Nate the Snake smiled, showing his tombstone teeth.
“I can't,” I wanted to yell but kept the lid on it.
“I'm not going and you can't make me,” he folded his arms, extending his chin like a child in a tantrum.
I watched his lips, fully expecting him to stick out his tongue.
“He doesn't want to go Wrigs,” Boss Man looked over his shoulder at me and blew out a smoke ring.  “Make it work.”
“I can't make it work.  I can't be in two places at once!” I think I was close to shouting.
“Okay then send Lucy.” Nate the Snake suggested.
“I'd love to!” spilled out of Looney Bin.
“She can't do it!” I can just see Lucy walking down the sidewalk in her lamée with a crowd of gay men following her while bidding on her outfit.
Everyone looked at me, the room went dead silent.  I shouldn't have said that.  Think Wrigley, say something nice.  “It's dangerous.  She doesn't know the ins and outs of covering an event like this.”
“Okay, I'll pick you up and I'll take you.  You review it.” Boss Man volunteered.
Silence again.  I put my hand on Looney Bin's shoulder, “I'll give you an outline to follow.” I had to sound like I wanted to help.
“Don't touch me,” Looney Bin crouched to the other side of her chair.
“Okay.  Now the next thing on the agenda,” he looked at me.
“So, why do I need a babysitter?” I protested. “I've been the editor of the Entertainment Section for four years.  This never came up before.”
I told myself to calm down, and stay focused.  I can't let it get to me.  I'm a big girl, I know how to take care of myself.  I tried to listen to Boss Man but I couldn't get last night's assignment at the Bohemian Folk Music event out of my head.  It gave me such a headache that I left early.  It's still echoing in my head!
I titled my review, “One hundred and one ways to bang on things.” Boss Man is going to have a fit when he edits it.  Knowing him, he'll sit back in his chair, blow smoke rings and stare me down.  The number of smoke rings determined how mad he is.
I deliberately drank coffee this morning so I could focus for a long period of time.  Nate the Snake was talking to Looney Bin.  Her peacock blue four inch nails and hair bands sparkled from the sky light.  I saw Boss Man's mouth move, but for some reason I couldn't process it.  Focus, Wrigley, focus.  There went my stomach again.
“So, if I'm doing a good job,” I inquired, “why do I need a babysitter?” I really felt indignant about this.
“Escort, Wrigley. Escort.” Nate the Snake interrupted. “And just think, he may be some gorgeous guy to escort you around!”
“Look,” Boss Man stared me down with those bushy eyebrows of his.  “The attorneys said I'm liable…the paper is liable should something happen to you on an assignment.  So we're sending an escort with you. Deal with it Wrigs.”
I hate it when he calls me Wrigs.
