#Ghosthunters of the Old West #TGTBTG

Hi everyone,

I’m thrill to share with you more information about the box set so asked the other authors to tell us a little about the ghost in their stories?

Keta Diablo said:
My story lands on the more ‘serious’ side of spectrum when it comes to theme. My ghost is a man who met with an unfortunate accident and passed on, leaving a widow and a young son behind. Ranch life in the late 1800s was tough, especially for a woman alone in this vast wilderness. The ghost realizes the huge dilemma she now faces and is determined to help her through the trials and tribulations looming on the horizon.

Anita Philmar said:
Nettie McKee is the great, great grandmother of Konnor McKee. He is the oldest son and pushing thirty. Nettie wants to see him married to the right girl. Unfortunately, he brings home the wrong girl and Nettie has to set things straight.

Blaire Edens said:
My ghost haunts the best saloon in Reno, The Blade. The saloon is the center of a lot of the action in 1880s Reno and the ghost is causing so much fear that the employees have walked out and refuse to come back until the horrible ghostly sounds stop. Every night, at exactly the same time, a terrible keening, shrill and eerie, fills the place. The owner of the saloon, Katherine Busbee, is a business woman and she knows that if the ghost stays, the saloon will have to close. She hires Agent Cole Swansby to get rid of the ghost before Preston Asbury, the President of Midas Mines, shows up in Reno. He’s a big spender and she can’t afford to lose his business. It will take every tool Cole has to get to the bottom of the ghostly mystery.

Charlene Radddon said:
That would ruin the surprise for the reader.

Patty Sherry-Crews said:
Well, I some surprises so I’m going to keep some things to myself. I can tell you a little bit though. Healy has been called in on this case because a rancher, Abbott Foster, can’t consummate his marriage to his new mail-order bride because every time he tries a menacing spirit appears.
The ghost in my story is Abbott’s first wife, Cora. The couple moved to Arizona from Texas as young newlyweds. Healy can see and talk to Cora but nobody else can. Again, that’s all I can say on the subject of Cora because I don’t want to give too much away.

Margo Collins said:
In the 1880s, the term poltergeist (for "noisy ghost") had only recently been coined in Germany—and these German settlers bring not only the term with them, but also an actual poltergeist!

Erin Hayes said:
Hattie sees quite a few ghosts in her travels. In fact, they can’t seem to leave her alone. But there is a big problem brewing in Carolina City.

Andrea Downing said:
As I said, Lizzie, my heroine, is the ghost.  She finds she has time traveled back from contemporary St. Louis to 1800s Wyoming.  She discovers that, in a former life, she was murdered during a robbery on her husband’s ranch.  She’s returned there due to unfinished business but always rather longs to get back to her real life, despite the fact she was married to a hot cowboy/rancher.

There's a girl’s trip in the works. All the girls have planned and plotted for months. Everything must work out just right for them to be able to talk the guys into this trip. All is on track until Allie, of all people, lands in hot water. Cassie and Sue do their best to help her out and keep the hope of the trip alive too.
Behaving is always a struggle for Cassie. She does try but, unfortunately, there are situations–completely beyond her control, at least in her eyes, that keep landing her on the wrong side of Tom’s spanking hand. As Cassie continues to end up in trouble, there are some interesting new friends, maybe a little rougher than Tom would want her associating with, who want to help her too. . .

     Excerpt :
“I like driving,” Allie told us. “I’ll take as many turns as you want me to.” We all grinned realizing it wasn’t bad having someone under sixty on this trip.
I wanted to be sure that Allie got as close as she could to everyone so I added, “And I think we need to make it a rule not to sleep with the same person two nights in a row.”
Sue laughed, “Hell, wasn’t that your rules for years?”
I contemplated drowning her, but contented myself with a dirty look. “I hope you’ll realize that my daughter-in-law is listening. Let’s keep it clean.”
“Oh no you don’t!” Allie insisted, “Why do you think I was dying to go on this trip. I want more stories.”
“No! I’m the one always looking like a… a… well I don’t come off looking so good. Let’s talk about their pasts,” I told her indicating Sue and Annie.
“What? And bore the child to tears, your life is much more interesting.” Sue grinned.
“The way you tell stories you’ll have her thinking I’m the Whore of Babylon,” I snapped.
“Mom,” Allie spoke up, usually she still calls me Cassie, but when she says Mom it catches in my heart. “The thing I love and admire about you the most is your over the top love and loyalty to Tom, even when you’re mad at him. But the second best thing about you is that you have a past. I love your old stories better than any TV series I’ve ever seen. And I need more stories.”
I rolled my eyes and hoped this trip wouldn’t scar Allie for life.

Author bio:
I still live in the small southern town where I was born. I’m happily married and now that we have two grown children we’re learning to love the empty nest. Next year will see the end of a long and satisfying teaching career and I’m anxious to spend more time writing. I didn’t grow up with the desire to be a writer, but I did love to daydream. As a child, I spent most of my spare time, and quite a bit of time when I should have been doing schoolwork, either reading or making up stories. I was actual quite young when Cassie wandered into my head and began telling me her story. I’ve always been drawn to spanking stories, but I need a true love story with it. That’s how I see Cassie and Tom – a true love story with spanking thrown in.

Perfectly Unpredictable Blurb:
Falling in love is Perfectly Unpredictable …

Kalia Beck always dreamed of starting a family, living in a house with a white picket fence, and finding her soul mate. Just not in that order. Kalia is coping with an unplanned pregnancy when she learns the father has passed away. She soon finds out that single parenthood isn’t easy, especially when the only thing that soothes the baby is the guitar-playing of a reluctant and reclusive next-door neighbor.

Mack Challen, lead guitarist in a rock and roll band, knows it takes a village to raise a child. He just doesn't think there's a village big enough to help “gay momma” and her screaming baby.

Kalia and Mack aren't looking for love and aren't ready for each other, but when the future unfolds, it’s … Perfectly Unpredictable.

Perfectly unpredictable moments touch your heart the most.

#RomanticTravel Idea – Toronto, Ontario is a romantic city destination! There’s so much to do together – winter ice skating in Nathan Phillips Square, a summer afternoon at a Toronto Blue Jays game, a visit to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, and fine dining. It’s a magical place to make memories together.

Perfectly Unpredictable Excerpt
Kalia pounded on her neighbor’s front door with her free hand. The other cradled a screaming Mani. In the last fifteen days, except for the past three, the neighbor had played his guitar from six until eight every night. And soothed Mani. It was the only thing that worked to calm the colic. No amount of rocking, walking, or singing worked to soothe the baby like fifteen minutes of guitar music. It was faintly amazing and fairly irritating that Kalia had to depend on the neighbor’s guitar playing.
He was home. She knew he was home. There was a new car in the driveway, and she could hear voices. So why wasn’t he answering the door? She pounded again.
The door swung open, and Kalia yelped at the suddenness of it. Mani screamed louder.
Mack frowned at them. “What?” he asked tersely.
Kalia groaned inwardly. It was the first time she had seen the neighbor close up. Six foot two, short dark hair with a sexy scruff, broad shoulders in a dark T-shirt, slim hips covered in worn sexy jeans, bare feet, and angry green eyes. Great. Just what she needed. A pissed-off lifeline. “Hi. I live next door. I need you to play guitar,” she said in a rush above Mani’s wailing.
“What?” His eyebrows winged up, and he put his hands on his hips.
“Why aren’t you playing guitar? You play guitar every night at this time.”
He shook his head. “I have company.”
“Well, you’re very good at guitar. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind listening to it for a few minutes.” Mani screamed louder. Desperate, Kalia strode in, noting that the layout to his home was the same as hers. Getting a fleeting impression of dark colors and sparse furniture, she moved past him into the living room. “Hello,” she said to the gorgeous brunette curled up on the dark leather sofa. “Would you mind very much if . . . he,” she gestured vaguely, realizing that she wasn’t sure of his name, “played guitar for a few minutes? Just a few minutes. It won’t take long.”
Mack followed her in. “Renee, this is my neighbor, half of the gay couple that lives next door, and her screaming baby,” he said wryly.
Kalia’s eyebrows shot up. “Yup, that’s me. The lesbian from next door,” she said with some chagrin. Is that what the neighborhood thought? She was living under a rock. “And we just need a little guitar music if you don’t mind.” She spied two guitars leaning on stands across the room and waved in their direction. “Whichever works.” Time’s a wastin’.

#NatchezTrace Perfect for #RomanticTravel & #Giveaway @Pat_Preston

I love autumn and the Natchez Trace in Tennessee has provided me with plenty of
inspiration for the fictional setting, Lafayette Falls, that I’m using in my contemporary romances for Lyrical Shine. The drive is leisurely and stunning along the Trace in the fall. This is a national parkway so there are no stores, gas stations, power lines or commercial traffic on the Trace. It is steeped in history along with pastoral beauty. Great for photographers.

So if you want to get out on a pretty fall day for a drive and a picnic, check out these places.
Rock Creek. You can skip across the creek on square rocks. Fall Hollow is a lovely waterfall. I used it as a model for the waterfall in my book. It is an easy walk from the roadside. Jackson Fall is a larger waterfall and a longer hike from the road. There is also a portion of the original Trace that you can hike. This is the path Jackson’s army took on the way home from the Battle of New Orleans. One of my favorite overlooks is Baker’s Bluff which features a working 19-century farm. To learn more about all the sightseeing stops along the Trace, go to https://www.nps.gov/natr/index.htm

New Release! One Week in Your Arms

My newest book, ONE WEEK IN YOUR ARMS, is mainstream contemporary romance filled with witty, charismatic characters. The fun, fast-paced plot features a secret baby, a billionaire baby daddy hero who needs a pretend girlfriend for a week, and a young doctor who is desperate to keep her child a secret. Unfortunately for the intrepid heroine, Marla, she needs money for her community clinic so she has no choice but to spend a week in paradise with the one man who can destroy her life. How can she say no? (Personally, I couldn’t say no. Could you?)

Blurb
IT STARTED WITH A FLING...

Six years ago, Dr. Marla Grant gave into temptation with a gorgeous man. Now the medical director of Lafayette Falls Community Clinic and a single mom to a little girl, Marla finds herself in a dilemma when the funding for the community clinic is threatened by none other than the powerful man of her long-ago fling and unsuspecting father of her child...

Carson Blackwell has never forgotten bright, beautiful Marla. When he discovers that she works at the clinic his grandmother's foundation sponsors, it's the perfect opportunity to end to his ongoing infatuation and use his leverage to cement a new business deal. He needs a fake girlfriend for one week in Hawaii, and Marla is just the woman for the job. It's a win-win situation, until they realize the attraction between them isn't feigned, and the heat has never died down. Only the secrets they're both keeping stand in the way of a future together and a love that could last a lifetime.

Excerpt from One Week in Your Arms

She picked up the letter opener. Her heart palpitated in sheer terror as she slid the opener under the flap of the envelope. With the envelope open, she peeped inside to see one folded sheet of stationery.
After six years, what could he possibly have to say?
She pictured him, standing beside a black truck in the drive of Royal Oaks, an old estate belonging to his grandmother. She recalled the date. June twenty-eighth. The day they had said goodbye had been a warm, blustery day in Tennessee. A summer storm was heading toward the rolling hills near Nashville.
The wind made a mess of Carson’s unruly dark hair. His dark blue eyes were hidden by a pair of mirrored lens aviators, and his alpha-male physique tested the seams of his polo shirt.
“If I’m ever back in town, I’ll look you up,” he promised as their casual affair came to an inevitable end. For three weeks, they had been together and finally, the time had come for them to go their separate ways. She hadn’t realized it would be so difficult.
“Sure.” She forced a smile of goodwill. After all, they weren’t parting in anger, or in love for that matter. And it was unlikely that she would ever see him again.
“I had a great time,” she confessed boldly. She’d loved every minute of their brief, steamy affair. Talk about a summer break to remember. She grinned.
He gave her cheek a stroke. “You’ll make a great doctor.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah.” He grinned. “You certainly know all there is to know about male anatomy.”
“Yours, at least.” She laughed. Then she hopped up on her toes and gave him a quick kiss. “Goodbye, Carson Blackwell.”
She stepped away from him. Now was the time to face what was ahead. A grueling three-year residency. There would be no more time for long summer nights, tangled sheets, and sighs against swollen lips. She walked toward her small, sturdy hatchback. Before she opened the driver’s door, she looked up and met his gaze.
“Goodbye,” he called.
At that moment, she’d had an odd sensation in her chest that her life was never going to be the same.

#Cowboys and Ghost, Oh my! #Ghosthunters from the Old West #TGTBTG

I had to ask the other authors in this box set what they thought about combining western romance with ghost stories?

Here’s what they had to say.

Patty Sherry-Crews said:

I think the old west and ghosts go together very well. We are taken with the folklore of that time and place in the same way we’re intrigued with ghosts. The west is a place where so many cultures came together, clashed, melded, and brought their traditions and stories. Many people migrated there with high hopes but not all achieved success. There are a lot of tragic stories, and many met their end violently. And of course, the basis of so many ghost stories are romances gone wrong.

Keta Diablo said:
I think cowboys and ghosts are a great combination and two of the most popular tropes right now. Ghost stories…think abandoned ghost towns of the Old West and hawt cowboys. People have always held a fascination for ghosts and the afterlife so why not combine them with rugged, alpha cowboys and see what turns up?

Anita Philmar said:
This is the best of both worlds. Not only can you have a hot cowboy but a ghost to cause trouble. What more can an author ask for?

Blaire Edens said:
I love a book that includes elements of more than one genre. Not only are they fun to read, they’re great fun to write. In this case of this story, ghosts and the Old West (my story takes places in the late 1800s) seem like a natural fit. With outlaws and working girls, unrequited love and harsh conditions, there’s bound to be a ghost in nearly every saloon and hotel room. Because the West, especially just after the Civil War, was a land with tons of interesting characters, it’s easy to imagine some of those folks hanging around even after they’ve said their earthly good-byes.

Charlene Radddon said:
I think it's fabulous. People back then tended to believe in ghosts and the supernatural more than we do now, so it's a good fit.

Margo Collins said:
I'm delighted to combine them! I have had a old-west demon-hunter character in mind for a long time; I'm glad to have a chance to write her into a story!

Erin Hayes said:
This is right up my alley! I love combining genres because when you do, you come up with something very fun and different. That’s what I’m aiming to do with my story.

Andrea Downing said:
You know, I’d never thought of combining the two because I’m something of a purist when it comes to the west, but as soon as Keta suggested the idea I had a story in my head.  It doesn’t always happen that way.  I’m glad to be part of this anthology and think it’s a great, fun idea.

#RomanticTravel to La Ville Lumière + Seeking Hope @JMMaurer1

It has been far too long since my last visit there, but I can still say that I love France!

In the Emerging From Darkness trilogy, we meet Jessica Winters. She is determined to dig her way out from under the dark clouds of depression and once again find the light of life, love, and happiness. With help from Dr. Matthew Moi, a psychiatrist/sex therapist who has been secretly in love with her for years, she finds herself living again. But with someone out to get Jessica, Matthew pledges to stop at nothing to protect the love of his life. In time, he seizes an opportunity for a safe haven at his family home in France. With their wedding on the horizon, will he get Jess to safety in time? Will things end tragically, or will their journey to The City of Light be more than romantic?

Blurb for Seeking Hope (Emerging From Darkness Trilogy Book 3), contemporary romance 18+

I’d been given promises in the past, all of which were broken.
Inevitably, they broke me.
I wouldn’t let those broken promises stop me from believing in new ones, though.
I couldn’t.

Matthew Moi was different.
His dimpled smile and witty sexual banter has held me spellbound since day one.
Falling in love with him came easy.
Marrying him—a dream come true.

Now, he wants something I’m not sure I’ll ever be ready for.
As I struggle, he faithfully remains at my side.
Through it all, his protective nature shields me from an evil I didn’t see coming.

Together, we have it all—love, passion, trust.
Apart, the possibilities are endless, even death.

Seeking Hope is the final book in the Emerging From Darkness trilogy, and as such, is not intended to be a standalone. The trilogy reads as: Seeking Love, Seeking Redemption, & Seeking Hope.

Follow Jessica and Matthew’s captivating and steamy love story from the beginning—start the trilogy today!

Excerpt:

Late September

For the first time in a long time, I had an itch to do something ridiculous—two things, in fact. One was the reason I was sitting in the back of a musty old van. The other might just be the solution to my Holly problem.
At least I hoped so, because while my mind should have been racing with thoughts of my upcoming wedding, it wasn’t. Instead, I was thinking of my best friend. Problem was, no matter how I launched my plan to help Holly move beyond her commitment issue with Burdick, it wasn’t going to go over well. And the more I thought about her, the more I dreaded the growing possibility of a headache. I’d just gotten over a nasty headache and was now attempting to shake off the likelihood of another when the van rolled to a stop and the driver’s voice muttered in the distance.
“We’re here.”
Okay, Jess. You’ve got your plan and it’s a good one.
I was about to remind myself to stick to said plan when the driver hopped out and moved to my side of the van, his open door ushering in a blast of autumn air that chilled my skin. I shivered and scooted to the edge of my seat, waiting for what was to come next. The shrill of metal sliding over metal pierced my ears as the door slid open, and rough skin wrapped a secure hold on my wrist. This was it.
“End of the line.” His gruff tone registered somewhere between the brief time it took him to pull me out and when his tall, burly features came into full view. He snickered as I pulled the hem of my pullover down and worked to smooth it out. Judging by the way his eyes scanned up my body, I presumed his outburst had everything to do with my appearance. After all, this was the first time I’d pieced together an outfit for such an outdoorsy occasion. Eventually, he calmed and took my hand, turning it palm up. “You don’t want to forget this.”
Instinctively, my fingers clasped a tight grip around the cold steel as I stood, staring down at the black metal, hoping I’d do it right. I’d never held a gun before. They all made me nervous. Fact was, with a gun in the wrong hands, things could quickly turn ugly.
I knew all about ugly.
Drawing my attention his way, the driver stretched a tattooed arm, pointed a finger, and then offered his last words of advice. “Never give up.”
I swallowed back a lump of fear, absorbing a deeper meaning of the phrase, and took off running. For what seemed like forever, I ran up and down hills, climbed over a few sizeable rocks, jumped a tiny brook, and pushed forward until I needed to recharge and bring my thoughts back into focus.
At best guess, I’d been in the woods for several hours, alternating between steady jogs in the direction I was supposed to go and quick respites to catch my breath. I wasn’t sure exactly where I was, but as far as I could see, there was nothing but dense forest—and me. Panting, I leaned against a tree and listened to the rustle of withered leaves moving with the breeze.
One thing was comforting: I hadn’t run into anyone. Yet.
Crack.

I’d taken on a different persona, too—my sassy and self-assured one. She knew what she liked and had the experience to keep her advantage in the conversation. When it came to dictating my tastes, preferences and limits, he’d no say in the matter. As a good dominant he listened, questioned and acknowledged what he heard. Once all was agreed he was in charge and I would let him do as he wished. I created the a la carte menu—he would pick the dishes.
Had he liked my bolshie approach? He certainly smiled a great deal during the proceedings.
I’d told him no piercing, bloodletting nor electric play. Public humiliation was a no for me too. “I assume privacy is important to you, Jason,” I’d pointed out.
He’d smiled wryly. “Depends on your definition of public.”
Something told me I’d find out. I curled my feet up underneath my legs and we moved on.
Nettles?” He raised his eyebrows.
They make a nice soup I believe.” I tossed my hair over my shoulder.
He tapped the pen on the paper. “Ah, bloody, ah!”
I rolled my eyes. “Well, I admit, I sat on some for a few minutes, once upon a time.” I grimaced at the recollection.
And?”
It fucking hurt, what do you think, that’s what,” I paused. “I could try again.” I ventured with a little grin.
He smiled and marked the paper with a sweeping tick. “Good.”
Why the keenness?”
Very useful for training subs who like to masturbate without permission.” The smile turned into a smirk.
I will endeavour to avoid that then.”
The training or the masturbation?” He twirled the pen through his long fingers.
Both perhaps,” I teased.

Q&A

So first, of course, the obvious question. How did you become a writer?
By accident more than design. I’ve always enjoyed writing since a young child. I filled exercise books with stories and diaries, so when my previous job ended six years ago, I had more time to take my hobby further. By then, I’d already penned a few spanking stories, and had ideas for more. My secret life as a kinky writer as Jaye Peaches wasn’t realised until I’d drafted nine books. To Know You was the first of these and this new version has been especially re-edited to celebrate my third year as an author.

Tell me about your latest release.
I wanted to combine the escapism of wealth – the playground for writing fantasies without boundaries – with the real-life world of domination and submission. The heroine, Gemma, isn’t a novice submissive with little experience, nor is she interested in romance. I didn’t want to write about the awakenings of virgin submissive who stumbles upon kink through a romantic relationship, instead I wanted to drop the reader straight into her life as a kink-loving individual who is independent and determined. The premise of the story is that she had a terrible experience and can’t believe she will ever be another dominant’s submissive. Jason, the aloof businessman, is at heart a caring man who initially wants to re-kindle what she has lost, only to find he needs more than her submission. The book isn’t simply about a submissive’s journey, but a dominant’s too. He has to adapt his dominance to meet her needs.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Letting go of the characters. In the end, I didn’t. I wrote an ending, a conclusion to the story that leaves the reader satisfied, then continued to write more about the couple. I enjoyed watching - or should that be imagining - how they developed and ensuring I remained true to their story.

Are you like any of your heroines?
Some have interests I share – Gemma is an artist, and I love to draw. In another book, Perfect Notes, I describe the relationship between to musicians. I’m also a musician. As for the kink? I prefer to keep my private life, private.

How many books have you written? Are they all spanking fiction?
I’ve published twenty books, and written more. Most involve spanking, either as part of a domestic relationship or in the context of BDSM. Those books that don’t contain spanking are D/s romances and involve some degree of kinkery, usually bondage.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I never know if I should tell people I’m a writer or an author. To me, anyone can be a writer, if they take pleasure in using words and communicating ideas or fantasies.  As a published author, probably this year was the first I consider myself a professional writer. I finally bought a web domain and had to register myself as a tax payer!  That makes it feel more real.

What are your current projects?
I’ve a paranormal Highland spanking romance that is in its final stages. I’ve taken two minor characters from a previous book and developed their own story. I’ve recently started work on another Sci-Fi spanking book and have contemporary paranormal story that is lurking in the background. I also have entirely vanilla projects constantly on the go.

You were just given a yacht. What would you name it?
It would have to be Sublime, because it’s the name of the luxury yacht in one of my books – Sublime Trust.
