Lyndi Lamont has a #ExcerptExchange Read with Ilona's Wolf

Interview with Sir Rolf of Klosterlupe:

LL: Thanks for sitting down with me today, Sir Rolf. Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m a knight of the King’s Guard, sworn to protect the royal family of Velosia.

LL: I understand you have some kind of special power. Can you tell us about it? I promise it is safe to do so.

I’m a werewolf.

LL: When did you discover you were able to shift into wolf form?

I was just a babe the first time I shifted. My parents had no idea what to do with me.

LL: Did you have special education or training to hone your power?

Yes. I was taken to Klosterlupe, the headquarters of a knightly order, many of whom are werewolves. There I was educated, trained to become a knight and taught to control my powers.

LL: Do you consider your power a gift or a curse? Why?

I admit there are times when it is useful to assume wolf form, but for the most part I consider it a curse. Especially after being cursed by Bruno of Grimmdorn, which left me unable to shift back into human form for many months.

LL: How does having this power complicate your life?

Shapeshifters are maligned and mistrusted by the Velosian people. We must hide in plain sight, or if that is not possible, in the shadows.

LL: If you could swap your power for another one, what would it be?

Anything else, as long as I can remain human.

Blurb:

Imagine a world filled with magic, a tormented knight, a damsel in distress, an evil sorcerer...

Cursed by an evil wizard, Rolf was trapped in wolf form until he tasted the blood of a royal. Now he must escort the princess on a hazardous journey back to the castle to stop an ill-fated wedding and face the evil wizard who placed the evil curse on Rolf.

Passion flares between them, but both know there is no future for a princess and a werewolf. Or is there? In a world where magic and passion combine, anything may be possible.

Excerpt: (PG-13)

She sat frozen, her back to the tree. Oh, gods, don't let it see me. She tried to cast an invisibility spell, but to no avail. The wolf looked at her, golden eyes gleaming, mouth open, showing off large, sharp teeth. She closed her eyes and gripped her throat with both hands. Quaking with terror, she listened as the animal padded toward her. She felt its hot breath on her cheek.

Opening her eyes a slit, she stared into the face of the wolf. Sad eyes stared at her, and her fears receded. Perhaps he'd been tamed. She reached out with what was left of her powers, but sensed no immediate danger. "Good wolf," she stammered.

She held out one shaking fist, and the wolf sniffed it before licking her knuckles. It moved closer, sniffing her clothing. To her surprise, the animal hunkered down beside her and laid its head on her leg. Carefully, she touched it, stroking the soft fur.

Relief flooded through her. Saved by a wolf, of all creatures. "Thank the gods you showed up when you did. I'd no wish to be ravished by the likes of him."

The wolf lifted its head and seemed to smile up at her, mouth open, tongue lolling.

She smiled at the canine as she continued to pet it. "Grateful I am for you rescuing me, but 'tis not exactly what a girl dreams of. Where's my knight on a white steed? 'Tis he who is supposed to do the rescuing."

When the wolf lowered his head, sniffing between her legs, she laughed and pushed it away. "Rude creature."

The animal responded by sitting up and resting its head on her breast. She put both arms around it and hugged it close, dropping a kiss on its head. "Do not misunderstand, Sir Wolf, but I still wish you were a knight. A strong, handsome knight like my Werner."

The familiar sadness filled her at the memory of her husband. "I miss him so much, you know. Dagmar says another knight will come for me, a handsome knight to protect us and make sweet, passionate love to me."

The wolf whined and raised his head to lick her cheek. Laughing, she tried to push him away, but he licked her full on the mouth. She closed her eyes, stunned when her powers came rushing back, like a flood of magic coursing around her.

Turning aside, she summoned her basket to her side. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the wolf jump up, staring at the basket. Her vision seemed to blur as the wolf's face slowly became humanlike, then shifted back. She must have hit her head harder than she'd thought if she was seeing things. She closed her eyes and shook her head, but the aching had receded.

When she peeked again, the wolf was gone, and a naked man crouched in front of her. A handsome, well-built man with shaggy brown hair and golden brown eyes.

#EggcerptExchange from How to woo A Reluctant Bride

How To Woo… A Reluctant Bride (Steamy Victorian Short Story) by Lyndi Lamont

Blurb:

A marriage of convience, nothing more...until darkly handsome Evan Channing and demure Lydia Blatchford meet. The rules are simple for an arrangement such as theirs. There should be no misunderstanding, no illusions of anything more. But the rules are about to change...

Lydia wants the kind of love and romance she reads about in books. Fortunately, she hasn't specified which book, and Evan has a copy of Richard Burton's new translation of the Kama Sutra, with its ancient wisdom on love and courtship. He sets out to win his high-born bride, blending seductive heat with exotic lessons in love-making. Lydia is prepared to tolerate this man she’s been sold to, but his scorching kisses send her pulses racing. Can an arranged marriage lead to love?

Excerpt: She broke off at the injured look on his face. "Forgive me, but surely you understand this marriage was never my preference."

He turned away from her and ran a hand through his hair. "Yes, I know, but I hoped you had become resigned to it."

"I have. At least I have tried to be," she said, the words tumbling out of her mouth. "That’s why I think it best just to plunge ahead. Once the banns have been read thrice, we can wed almost immediately."

He turned back, a frown still marring his forehead. "Will that give your mother enough time to plan?"

She shrugged. "All I need is a new gown."

"But won’t society think it odd we married in such haste?"

She looked him in the eye. "Let me make one thing clear. I do not give a fig for what society thinks. If you supposed you were marrying a social butterfly, let me banish that notion right now."

He smiled at her. "Harry said you were sensible, but this surprises me. I’m happy to agree to a short engagement." He stepped closer, towering over her. "The sooner I can make you mine, the better."

Her heart pounded and her breath caught as he lowered his head and touched his lips to hers for but a second before backing away. She drew in a deep breath. Her first kiss and it had been over almost before it was begun. She didn’t know whether to be relieved or disappointed.

"Shall we go inside and discuss the wedding plans with your parents?"

"Not yet. There is something else I’d like to say." It was now or never.

"Yes, my dear, what is it?"

She licked her lips then plunged ahead. "I know how these things work. Arranged marriages, that is. I won’t expect fidelity from you."

His shocked expression surprised her. "Is that what you think, Lydia? That I’m marrying you with the intention of cheating on you?"

"Perhaps not now," she said. "But in a few years… It’s not as if ours is a love match. I won’t cut up a fuss if you decide to take a mistress. As long as you are discreet."

"How very... sophisticated of you," he said, his tone dry enough to parch a desert.

She took a deep breath before continuing. "And once I’ve produced the requisite heir and spare, I assume I’ll be free to seek my pleasure elsewhere."

The thunderous look on his face startled her and she stepped back.

"You will do no such thing," he said fiercely, reaching for her. "Our union may not be a love match now, but I fully intend to see it turns into one."

With that, he pulled her into his embrace, trapping her arms between them as his encircled her shoulders and waist.

Before she could say a word, he pulled her into his embrace, trapping her arms between them as his encircled her shoulders and waist. Covering her mouth with his, he kissed her with a heady combination of passion and anger. Her resistance crumbled in the face of his onslaught. She clutched at his lapels and returned his kiss, even parting her lips when his tongue probed them. Overwhelmed by the sensations his lips provoked, she let her eyes drift shut as she clung to him.

When he let her go, he was still visibly upset. "There will be no more talk of infidelity. Have I made myself clear, Lydia?"

Tova’s Dragon is a hot #FallingIntoLove #Romance by Lyndi Lamont

Tova's Dragon
by Lyndi Lamont
Amber Quill Press
Genres: Shapeshifter Erotic Romance
Heat Level: 3
Length: Novella (20k words)

Four Fun Facts about Tova’s Dragon:

1) The story came to me in a dream. My last thought before falling asleep was that I wanted to write a dragon shifter story. That night I had a vivid dream about a young woman running away from a lightning storm. She found shelter in a cave where a dragon guarded its lair.

2) About a week later I had trouble sleeping. While I was lying in bed awake, the story started to take shape in my mind. I jumped out of bed at 4 AM, went into the living room, grabbed a yellow pad and started writing. When I stopped, , I had the outline for what became Tova's Dragon.

3) I was so enthused I bought a dragon figurine for inspiration, and later I got a dragon pendant that I still wear.

4) A friend sent an email that she was looking to get rid of her Celtic Dragon Tarot deck, and I jumped at the chance to buy it from her. The cards are lovely and helped me come up with some scene ideas.

Blurb:

Tova, an earth mage, rejuvenates through sex magic. She's on a mission to save her homeland, but her magical energy is running low--closing in on empty. How is she to know the handsome half-naked man she encounters is not only a condemned man, but also a dragonshifter? Talk about hot and steamy sex. And nothing is simple after that...

Kane has always loved Velosian women and their sex magic. Tova's warmth stirs his passions and her courage touches his heart, but he dreads telling her of his true nature, certain she will recoil. But Tova is made of sterner stuff.

Together, Kane and Tova have the power to save Velosia. If they survive, can an earth mage find happiness with a dragonshifter? In a land where sex and magic are intertwined, anything may be possible.

Excerpt:

Tova awoke to find herself on a soft bed wrapped in the embrace of a very hot, very aroused man. She opened her eyes and looked around the dimly lit chamber. “Where am I?”

“In my cave. You fell and hit your head.”

She squirmed around to stare at the man, and it all came back to her—the climb up the mountain, the lightning storm, being guided to the cave, and falling in the tunnel. “Your cave,” she repeated. “And you are?”

“I am Kane.”

Why did his name sound so familiar? She studied the face just inches from her own. He was older than she, perhaps in his third decade. Long black hair hung down to his shoulders and his eyes were a warm shade of amber under straight black brows. Her gaze dropped to sensual lips above a cleft chin. He was handsome as sin and naked to the waist. A shiver traveled up her spine and her heartbeat increased.

Around his neck he wore a heavy gold chain with a large, luminous pearl dangling from it. When she reached out to touch the pearl, she sensed power radiating from it, from him. “It was you who guided me to the cave, was it not? I thank you.”

“It was my pleasure, daughter of earth.”

She smiled at the apt nickname. “I am called Tova Svensdottir.”

“How are you feeling, Mistress Tova?”

She assessed the situation. Though she was warmer, her head still hurt and her energy was depleted. Self-healing would take a long time in this state. “Weak, a feeling I can ill afford.”

“Where were you headed in such a hurry?” he asked, his voice casual. “What on earth brought you to my mountain?”

She hesitated, not certain whether or not to trust him. Mutti Zee’s instructions echoed in her head. “I seek the Lord of Drakkenberg.”

Kane raised his brows. “You have come to the right place, though the old lord is dead.”

Suddenly, she realized who he was and scooted away from him. ’Twas just her luck to be rescued by the most feared outlaw in the land. “Please do not hurt me, Kane of Drakkenberg.”

With a sigh, he rose from the bed, clad only in his breeches and hose. “I would never hurt you, Lady Tova. I am not the monster legend depicts me. Well, not entirely.”
