Havyn Westmore has questions… Faye Lynn holds the answers. Determined to unravel the mystery of who she might be, he strives to gain her freedom and trust. Teaching her the finer techniques of transformation keeps her close, while sex strengthens their bond. But on the trail of discovery, Havyn must confront his own past. Accused of a heinous crime, he’s banned from his homeland. Now, he’s torn between robbing Faye Lynn of her birthright and a life in Paradise or facing certain execution.

Excerpt:

“What are you doing here?” The angry, male voice came alive from her nightmare, reiterating his demand from the shore.
Threads of prickling bumps needled her flesh, warning the dream was real and presented a potential danger in more ways than one. The imposing man, blessed with magnetic good looks, created a fire in her loins. Squatting deeper into the cold water, she braved another stealthy glance over her shoulder. The fast dip in the lake to recover her equilibrium took a hit with this new, unwanted problem.

Discovered by an agitated stranger, her hope of getting back to her clothes and into town before dark disintegrated into dust. Instead, she quietly wished he couldn’t see her naked form. “I’m sorry. Does this river belong to you?”

“Yes, and all the land around here. You’re invading my territory.” His authoritarian tone rang of a military commander or local official who could haul her off to jail, which didn’t happen often in this part of the human world; the number of law-abiding citizens fell way short of criminals.

Wiggling around to observe the stranger, she caught the interest he showed in the trickle of blood on her forearm and dropped her hand over the wound. “Explains the reason for the tall stone fence around your property. Because you don’t like people on your land, am I right?”

Noting the granite expression on the immense mountain of a man’s features, she froze at the uncanny similarity it had to the wolf’s stealthy-icy gaze when she’d taken flight. Could he be… A wave of fear hit her in the chest… gasping for breath, she calculated the time she’d been in her human form…. The ability to shift into another and escape was impossible.
It’s too soon to even try.

What Happen to Anita Philmar? #hotreads , #shifters , #historicalwesterns , #romance

Hello everyone,

I hope you guys are excited about the new year because I know I am.

For the last several years, I've taken a break and reassessed what I wanted to write next.

Pulled between finishing a few series or write something new, I chose instead to step back and reassess what I wanted out of my craft.

That being said, my characters started talking to me... Boy, can they be chatty.

But after much debate and some soul searching, I am rewriting all of my books. Seeing as I have over twenty stories, I knew this would be a long process, but I didn't want you to have to wait months in between before you could read my newest release. So, I've been working ahead with the intention of releasing a new book each month. Hopefully, I can keep ahead of the curve.

Now, the bad news, I don't want anyone to read my stories in my old voice, so I've taken all my books off every retail site.

But as I just stated, I will release a new rewritten story at the beginning of each month.

If you bought my ebooks at Amazon or other retail sites, you should be able to receive the updated version within a day or so after the release date. All you need to do is say yes when Amazon asked you if you want the updated version. (instructions below)

Here's to an exceptional year, and I'm so happy to have you along for the ride.

All the best,

Anita

Excerpt 1 - G

She sat up tall in her chair and leaned forward, scanning his bloodshot eyes. "Tell me there's nothing between you and Savannah. Tell me you didn't want to go home with her."

He didn't respond.

Tears welled. "Damn you, Darien. I trusted you."

"Nothing happened between us. But telling you I didn't want to go with her would be a lie, and I refuse to lie to you."

She blinked. "What?"

"I was drunk. She's hot. I was missing you and… things just got out of control. I'm not always controlled by my brain. Sometimes other parts make the call." He shrugged. "Especially when I'm drunk."

"You're gonna use your drinking as an excuse?"

"Not an excuse. An explanation."

"That doesn't make any sense."

Darien ran his fingers through his hair. "I really, really miss you. It hurts more than… it hurts right down to my soul. I guess I started drinking to fill the hole in my heart."

"I miss you, too." Her voice was small.

"Savannah was just there. I didn't call her. She appeared at the club. Someone probably posted an Instagram about me being there. It wasn't her I wanted to be with. It was you. She was just a – a substitute."

Erika stared at her keyboard and tapped a fingernail on her desk.

"Say something. Anything. Please. Hell, tell me to fuck off."

She looked at the screen. The remorse he was feeling was evident in his eyes, his words, and his tone. He hadn't meant to let things get out of control. It started off as a fun night out with his friends. Cut loose. Let some steam off. She chuckled.

He raised an eyebrow. "Okay, you laughing kinda seriously creeps me out. What's so funny?"

"The last time you cut loose, there was a hit on the Black Dragon."

He snorted. "Crap, you're right. I guess I should start spending my Saturday nights at the local library."

Erika crossed her arms. "I think that would be a smart decision."

"So are we good? Or as good as we can be?"

"Yes, all is forgiven. This time. I guess I do have to understand that there are two of you and I have to share you with the world. This is new ground for both of us."

What Happen in Bangkok - by Daryl Devore , #romance , #hotread ,

Inspiration for a book can comes from unusual places and at crazy times. What inspired What Happened in Bangkok? A song on the radio.  Hubby and I were in the car on the way to visit with our daughter. Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive was playing and I turned around, grabbed my laptop, and wrote the first 3 chapters of a book that I had no idea I was going to write which turned into a trilogy.

If you are scratching your head thinking this sounds familiar – this is a re-release. I received my rights back from my publisher and decided these stories needed to be back out there.

Blurb

To save Darien's life his brother asks, "Can you walk in high heels?"

Erika Bailey, owner/manager of a drag queen club in Bangkok, Thailand has happily settled into all aspects of her new life, except for her lack of a love life. When a new diva auditions, Erika is bewildered over her instant attraction to the blond God, Apollo.

Darien Scott is on vacation after a world tour and mistakenly figures the safest place to be is at The Black Dragon with the head of a Triad. When the club is hit, Darien is the only person to get out alive. Now   he's running from the police and a Triad. Mistake number 1.

Disguised as a drag queen, he's hired by Erika, but falls hard for his new boss, then struggles with not coming clean with her. Mistake number 2.

Can he fix his mistakes and find a life filled with love or is he headed straight for mistake number 3?

Excerpt (warmer)

"Simple." He placed his menu on the table and picked up a chip. "Get one of each, but make sure there's room for dessert. 'Cause I want a Churro. Or maybe the Sweet Chimichanga."

"Or both." She popped a salsa-covered chip into her mouth.

"Awesome." Darien dipped a chip and bit into it, trying not to look like he couldn't tear his gaze from her. The elegance of her moves as her fingers unfolded and reached for a chip. The curve of her wrist as she scooped some salsa. The jolt in his body when she opened her mouth and licked her lips. Watching the chip disappear past her teeth was too much for his control. His cock sprang to life. He'd never be able to look at chips and salsa the same way again.

The waitress placed the tray of monkey wings on the table. Erika squealed as they both reached for one. The happiness spread from her face to her body. Her nipples were visible, pressing against her dress. The pressure in his slacks increased. Her lips parted. He stifled a groan. She slid the piece of meat into her mouth and lightly bit into it. Her teeth grazed against the chicken meat, pulling it from the bone. A dribble of sauce escaped. She flicked her tongue across her bottom lip, closed her eyes and heaved a delighted sigh. Sweat ran down Darien's back. Yes, the wings were spicy. But the vision across from him was twenty jalapenos hotter. She picked up another wing. Darien trembled, grabbed his drink and chugged half of it. It did nothing to cool his soaring temperature or reduce the swelling in his pants.

The visual of her lips wrapped around the chicken wing morphed into her lips around his fully aroused cock. As she pulled the next wing from her mouth, he swallowed–hard. He wiped his brow. "This is hot."

"Not too hot for you?" She placed her index finger in her mouth and slid it out, licking off the sauce.

"Not really, but I just might have to take a cold shower." He grabbed another wing. She reached for one. Darien shuddered. He never knew eating Mexican could be so erotic.

Excerpt- PG

Stonehurst’s eyes shone with mischief. “Your wife came to my establishment earlier. She offered me five guineas to fuck her.”

Deanswood spluttered and almost spat out his brandy. “She did what?”

Stonehurst leaned back and savored a second sip of his wine. “Do you want me to repeat it? After you’ve drawn everyone’s gaze? I didn’t take her money or screw her, of course. Let’s find somewhere to talk.”

Anger turned Deanswood’s features haughty and harsh. Fists curled, he glowered at his friend. Make that former friend. He’d rather beat Stonehurst senseless than talk. “You keep your bloody hands off her.”

All Deanswood had wanted was an heir and a spare. Instead, his wife barred him from her bed—unless a quick screw with no foreplay or kisses once a month counted. He’d rather have stayed single.

He’d dreamed of a wife with a warm smile and sweet nature. Curves that made his mouth water and his palms twitch would be a bonus. Leg-shackling himself to Alethea Allerton was the biggest mistake he’d ever made.

He should have made it clear that he expected to bear his children and submit to the occasional spanking. In return, he’d teach her about passion, bondage, and obedience. Until his mother-in-law collared him in the library, he’d been looking forward to his wedding night. His mother-in-law’s words had kyboshed that.

Stonehurst struggled to contain his laughter. “So, what really happened on your wedding night?”

“It’s none of your business,” Deanswood snapped.

Unabashed, Stonehurst grinned. “Your wife made it my business. Her dress sense is shocking. Is that why you couldn’t perform last night?”

Stonehurst was right. Alethea had involved him in the tangled mess of her marriage. “Did Alethea say I couldn’t… Of course, I could… Damn it, I don’t have to explain myself to you.”

“It might help to talk about it,” Stonehurst suggested.

Deanswood sighed. “Nothing else seems to. After I’d thrown Lady Babs out, my new mother-in-law collared me in the library. She read me an endless lecture on the sins of marital sex. I’d rather take a dressing down from Wellington than endure that again.”

Inwardly, Deanswood fumed. Why the hell had his wife waited until after the ceremony to send her mother to tell him she didn’t want sex? He supposed she was eager to get her grasping hands on his fortune.

When he learned his wife planned to cuckold him, his eyes narrowed and lips thinned in anger. A trip to Gentleman Jackson’s boxing salon beckoned. Going a few rounds with the champion might calm his soul.

Stonehurst’s teasing manner vanished, and he held up both hands, palm out. “I never touched her. We’re attracting too much attention. Walk with me.”

Deanswood had fought alongside Stonehurst in the Peninsular War and again at Waterloo. They’d shared too much to fall out over a woman. That said, Stonehurst enjoyed the earl’s discomfort far too much.

Questions and Answers

(Please don’t feel obliged to use them all, or use any.)

1        Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special?

My heroine, Lady Alethea grew up in a remote fishing village on the Kent coast. A strict religious sect holds sway there. They disapprove of everything - singing, dancing, laughing. Even smiling is a sin. Alethea dreams of a happy future not one sent peddling fish. When James, Earl of Deanswood drives his yellow phaeton into the village, he reminds of the Greek God Apollo driving his flaming chariot across the sky. Not that she can admit to knowing Greek Myths in her village. She gives her heart in an instant, but although Deanswood marries her within a week, he doesn’t do the same.

2        Tell us about your hero.

James, Earl of Deanswood never expected to inherit the title. His father and older brother died the same day the battle of Waterloo started. Deanswood enlisted as a boy soldier and although he attained the rank of major, he sold out when he learned of his father’s death. Although it’s never officially stated in the book, he suffers from PTSD.

3        What genre are your books?

I write romance. Any sort. Paranormal or contemporary. His Innocent Bride is my second Regency Romance.

4. What draws you to this genre?

I write the books I like to read. There’s always a strong plot, with lots of adventure. Then there’s the sex. My pet hate is cliff hangers. Even the books in my series can be read as stand-alone romances. Add in that I’m a sucker for a happy-ever-after, and you’ve got my writing style.

5. What is your favorite motivational phrase.

It’s one of Mohamed Ali’s catchphrases. “If my head can conceive it and my heart can believe it, then I can achieve it.”

6         Tell us about your writing process and the way you brainstorm story ideas.

Brainstorm? It’s more like batter them to death with a hammer. I start with a random scene in my head and work out how people got there. Sometimes that one scene doesn’t even make it into the story. Once I’ve got the first draft finished, I edit, and edit, and edit. The first readthrough is to check the plot works. The next three are to polish the words. After that, I print it out and read it again. Words look different on paper. Next, I read it out loud. Then, and only then, do Iet my husband read it. Not that he’s a romance fan, but I’m dyslexic. He sees things I don’t.

After all that, my editor still makes changes.

More about Kryssie Fortune.

Kryssie reads everything and anything, from literary fiction to sizzling romance. Her earliest memory is going to the library with her mother. She can’t have been more than two at the time. Reading, especially when a book’s hot and explicit, is more than a guilty pleasure. It’s an obsession.

Kryssie loves to visit historic sites, from Hadrian’s wall to Regency Bath. The first book she fell in love with was Georgette Heyer’s The Unknown Ajax. After that, she devoured every regency book she could. Part of Kryssie’s psyche lives in in in Regency London. She longs to dance quadrilles and flirt behind fans. Of course, Kryssie’s heroines do far more than flirt.

Kryssie lives in Bridlington on the Yorkshire coast –about thirty miles from Whitby, where Bram Stoker wrote Dracula. She enjoys gardening, travel, and socializing with her author friends. You’d be surprised how many erotic romance authors live in the North of England.
