How Do You Define Success?

With the year half way over, it might be a good time to review your goals.

First, though it might be a good idea to define what you believe success for you might be. We all look at success differently.

Is it finishing a book?
Reaching the New York Time's Best Seller List?
Making $100,000 a year?

One is much different than the others.  Once you define you ultimate goal, then you can start working backwards to see what you have to do each day to reach your level of success.

Example:

Finish chapter 1...chapter 2.....etc., until the book is finished.

So how do you define success?

How do you define success for yourself?

Each of these are important question to ask your self.

Once you have the answer then you can start defining your goals - both short term and long term.

Example for the short term

1. write another
2. post a blog once a week
3. grow my following on twitter to 2000 people.

Example for the long term.
1. sell ###  books a day ( can you control this if not rethink this goal)
2. Be a best selling author on amazon (what are the steps to get here gives you the short term goals you need to achieve.)

Hope your plan for success is already in place. If not, now might be a good time to start thinking about it.

Have a great weekend,

Unrealistic Expectation - Goal for the New Year

Funny, when we imagine our life after marriage, we sometimes image a life style which is unrealistic.

Personally, I bought into the motto - Bring home the bacon, fry it up in the pan, and never ever let him forget he's a man.

Wrong, I couldn't do it. I was tired after work, and I didn't want to fix dinner. And well, if my husband wanted to remember he was a man, I'd let him take out the garbage.

That's fair. Right?

The point is, I couldn't live up to the picture of what I should be and what I should do.

My husband, the smarter of the two of us, understood and luckily convinced me he didn't want to live with a stressed out super woman.

So what expectations do you have?

Are they attainable, or are they only achievable in a perfect world?

Think about it, talk to your lover about it, revise the imagine in your head and come up with a better working picture.

This does not only apply to your love life. When working out your goals for the coming year, make sure you are setting attainable goals.

Putting Your Butt in the Chair

To achieve any goal you have to make a commitment.

The biggest for me is putting my butt in the chair. If I'm sitting in my office, then I'll work. It might not be on a story, but it will be on something that advances my career. Whether that is working on the internet, setting up interviews, writing other people or developing characters, it is working toward my ultimate goal of being a best selling author.

I guess hours of fun loving sex isn't enough to write a hot erotica.

Boy, do I wish it were.

Instead, you have to spend time at your desk hammering out the frustration on the keyboard.

Guess, it's time for a break,
