Doctor Out to Ruin Her Reputation? by Allison West #romance #ebook #newrelease

Little Brides

Victorian Chronicles Book Two
By Allison West
Publisher: Blushing Books

Eager young Clara is looking forward to her arranged marriage. She has been waiting all her life for the day when she will meet her husband. Her father has spent many months searching for the man worthy of his daughter’s hand.
Clara learns that her future husband, Francis, requires the young woman to undergo a medical examination to ensure that she has remained pure and that she is as intact as her reputation. Clara has never felt more disgraced as she is forced to bare all of herself to the doctor, where she undergoes far more than she ever anticipated. Silently, she swears to herself that she will move past the humiliation and never speak of what happened with the physician.
When Francis pays a visit to Clara’s father to propose additional terms to the marriage, wanting to bring along one of her maids so he will have a nanny in the house for Clara, the young bride-to-be is shocked to realize that he was the man giving her an examination. Was he really a doctor, or was he playing the part to ruin her reputation?
Little Brides is the second book in the Victorian Chronicles. It can be read as a stand-alone story but it does follow the first book in the series: A Proper Punishment.

A Proper Punishment
Victorian Chronicles Book One
By Allison West

She’s stolen gold… will she steal his heart? Lena Mae has been turning down the advances of men and potential suitors for marriage. She has not met a man worthy of her attention or her hand. Looking for adventure and learning of the route between England and Paris where gold is hauled and transported, Lena is determined to steal enough gold bars to live alone and never need to consider the advances of another man.
William Mason is responsible for guarding the train and the gold bars buried inside the safes. He has always been a man of the law. When he discovers that the safe transporting the gold has been broken in to and there are thieves on the train, he enlists the help of the young Lena Mae, who has caught his attention. Traveling alone with a story to tell, she appears to be the most honest person and the one least likely to be involved, given her dainty size.
His assumptions are wrong. Learning of her betrayal, he must decide how to enforce his rule and whether she should be disciplined – or arrested and handed over to the authorities for her crimes.

Excerpt

Francis had paid an unexpected visit to Clara’s parents’ home, wishing to speak with them about hiring a nanny for Clara. Though, in truth, he did not desire to use such words around her family. He wanted the chance to marry the young lady and worried that if he confessed of his desires, that they might not offer the young lady to him. Instead he would refer to the position as a maid, because it was quite common for wealthy families to have maids to help the girls with their chores and getting ready for proper events.
He had not intended on visiting with Clara after the examination. In fact, he had planned on her discovering that he was the physician when they were to wed. It would have been quite a surprise, even for him, a man who despised surprises, but he thought it was in Clara’s best interest.
“What are you doing here?” Clara asked, staring at him harshly. She stepped closer, examining him from head to toe. “Are you really a physician or was what you did some sick joke?” Clara folded her arms across her chest.
He was confident that she was angry with him and for valid reason, he hadn’t been forthcoming in who he was. Francis also hadn’t thought that if he was honest she would have been accepting of what he wanted to do, ensure that she was a virtuous bride.
“I am a doctor,” Francis said. “You visited my home and the cottages for the sick and dying.” He quite often had at least one family hauled up in one of the buildings until they passed away. It made caring for them much easier when they were within a few days or weeks of their last dying breath.
“You lied to me!” Clara shouted as she stomped across the floor, coming to approach him.
He wasn’t sure whether she had it in her to hit him or only scream at him. Either way he was prepared for whatever anger she unleashed. Francis did not deny that it was probably warranted. It wasn’t that he intended to betray her, only keep her from second guessing the decision of their marriage.
“I did what was in your best interest,” Francis said. “I intended to marry you and have no reason not to.” He hoped that she would not give him a reason to turn her away. She was beautiful, strikingly so with her honey blonde hair and hazel eyes that twinkled in the candelabra lighting.
Clara huffed with anger, her teeth clenched tight and her hands balled into fists. “You violated me!”
“Excuse me?” George asked, interrupting the tiff between his daughter and Francis. “Would someone please clarify what exactly is going on here?”

Author Interview

Is this your first series?
Writing as Allison West, this is the first series that I’ve done. However, I’ve written a young adult series that was three books.

How many books will be in the Victorian Chronicles series?
Right now there are only two books. I hope to write more, but I haven’t planned anything further.

Favorite book?
I absolutely loved The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

Favorite TV shows?
The 100, 13 Reasons Why, The Handmaid’s Tale

What makes a good story?
Characters with a solid backstory, a believable world –whether it’s historical, fantasy, science fiction or contemporary it has to be based on enough truth to seem real, a strong story arc, and a romance that is believable. I enjoy reading romances that aren’t just throw the characters together and let them make out. Obstacles and flawed characters are more genuine and real, they’re like us.

Tell us a crazy story about your life.
I recently got married and the week of the wedding, my fiancĂ© was hospitalized in isolation for C-Diff. We weren’t sure the wedding would happen. When it came down to the wedding day, everything was beautiful, the ceremony was amazing, but at the reception – I was sick. We spent our wedding night in the ER and missed our first dance and reception. Talk about a crazy night.

What is your favorite genre?
I really love dystopian stories. The better the world building, the more compelled I am to read it.
Tell us about your most adventurous experience.
About 10 years ago I traveled to Australia by myself to meet a friend that I knew online. We both loved to write and were obsessed over a television show, so I took the trip to meet her. Turned out to be an amazing time and we became even better best friends. Just last year I traveled back to Australia to attend her wedding!

Desperate to See Her Parents Violet Steps Over the Line in The Lords of Discipline by Allison West #spankingromance

The Lords of Discipline
by Allison West
Publisher: Blushing Books
From a line of felons...Violet Kingsley’s parents, convicted of conspiring against the crown, were sent to the penal colony, leaving Violet with her abusive uncle. Escaping his home was easy, living on the streets was a matter of survival. At nineteen she wants nothing more than to see her parents again. With no other way to discover their whereabouts, she forces her way inside a restaurant and breaks into the kitchen, delivering herself one last hot meal before she too is sent to the penal colony, in hopes of finding them again.
Officer James Foster patrols the streets of London and is called into a different district to cover a shift. Catching Violet red-handed with stolen soup right out of the ladle, he has no choice but to arrest her, except his heart won’t let him send this poor woman to the magistrate for further proceedings. He’s seen her before, bought her a meal two years ago, and feels nothing but guilt for her still living the same life she had back then. He should have done more for her.
Knowing what will become of Violet as a convict on a ship set out for the penal colony, she would be one of only a few women against hundreds of men who wanted to take her virtue. Violet would not survive the transport, let alone the life of a convict in New South Wales.
Needing a caretaker for his fourteen-month old daughter, James offers her a chance to pay off her debt, with the same sentence term, seven years. Will she behave as a lady should, or find his expectations and her new life to be too difficult?
DISCLAIMER: This book contains the elements of domestic discipline and power exchange. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase this book.

Excerpt
“Do you know how few women there are transported on each ship? I’ve heard tales of women forcing themselves to pair up with a guard or prisoner for protection. Is that what you want for yourself?”
Violet hadn’t even considered such a notion. She remained silent for a long moment before emitting a heavy sigh. “I was hoping to find my parents. I haven’t seen them in four years. Surely they are free and have not been able to travel back to London to bring me with them.” She did not know the terms of their sentence, but suspected they had paid their dues.
James shuffled his feet, undoing the ties around Violet’s arms. “A prisoner ship is no place for a woman. Write down their names and I will look into their whereabouts. A prisoner manifest would at the very least give us a location of where they were being kept and if they are still prisoner or have been allowed free. Violet, you will come home with me, where I will provide you food and a bed to sleep. Upon discovery of your parents’ whereabouts, I personally will see to it that word is sent on your behalf.”
No one was ever kind without expecting something in return. “What is it that you want?” Violet asked. She wasn’t by any means agreeing to his offer, though it sounded much more promising than her own idea of asking everyone in the prison if they’d heard of her parents.

Excerpt:

“I am only trying to help you, Alice.”
Her eyes narrowed, accusingly. “How do you know my name?” she asked, keeping a distant between them, with the glass case from his shop protecting her.
Considering how they met, he didn’t blame her for hiding from him, but he wasn’t the bad guy. It would take Alice time to realize that. At the very least, she needed a good night’s sleep considering she’d been drugged.
“I called upon Mr. Robert White and asked that he bring you to Wonderland.”
“You wanted me to write a story that would bring tourists back to visit this town,” Alice said.
“Yes, I paid Mr. White to bring you to my shop. It seems Tara was a bit more cunning than I anticipated.”
Alice’s eyes narrowed. “Why should I believe you? She told me you have an underground sex club! What kind of a person does that?”
He remained calm and quiet for several long moments as he took a breath, trying to contemplate how he would answer her question. It seemed she was not into the dominant or submissive lifestyle, at least not yet. What she didn’t know was that his club was a special place for grown women to become little and have every need taken care of for them. Examining Alice, watching her closely, he was not sure whether she would be thrilled or appalled with such an idea. It was best to keep the truth from her for a little while longer.
“Do you believe everything a stranger tells you?” Baylor asked.

Excerpt

Buttoning her coat, she pulled it tighter as she headed for the door on her way out of the tavern.
“Please do not tell me you came alone,” a gentleman with thick brown hair said as he held open the door for her. He towered above Elizabeth, gazing down at her with a stern gaze.
“My friend left early,” Elizabeth said; it was a lie. Had Isabel shown up, she would have had someone to accompany her at least half way home on foot. The walk was not bad, she had learned ways to cut through town and make the journey quicker.
“Right,” he said, staring at her, sizing her up. He did not so much as blink as he refused to look away.
He had the palest blue eyes that she had ever seen, with thick dark lashes that matched his mahogany hair. He was striking, no doubt, but Elizabeth had done well to avoid men and did not wish to change her ways now. She hadn’t paid anyone much attention in the tavern, but the way he answered, she half-wondered if he’d been watching her.
He shook his head, clearly unpleased. “It is not right for a lady such as yourself to be walking alone at night. I shall accompany you home. Unless you have a carriage waiting for you?” He glanced outside, waiting to see if her coachman would show himself and take responsibility for the girl being on her own. No one came forward.
“Sir, I do not know you,” Elizabeth said, glancing at him from head to toe. He was well dressed, a striking gentleman a few years older than her. “It would be improper for you, a stranger, to walk me to my door.” He appeared pleasant and kind but that did not mean the moment they stepped away from the tavern that he would not turn on her and insist to steal her virtue in the darkened streets. Perhaps she was foolish for being so cautious but she could not help the feeling that she found unsettling as he offered to escort her home. Besides, should he escort her to the door, her father would have had a fit to discover she had snuck out.
“Then perhaps my coachman and I will accompany you to your home. Surely your husband or father would be grateful to know that you have returned safely.”
He didn’t seem to back down, no matter how hard she pushed that she did not require an escort to accompany her home.
