Excerpt: (from chapter two Shocking Finds)

Marin needed answers. Like why had they been targeted? The parking lot hadn’t

exactly been lacking for vehicular violence victim contenders. There had been a group

of at least four women, standing by their cars, chatting. If there was a target more

deserving of vehicular rage, it had definitely been that group of women. They had

finished shopping, and courtesy demanded that their parking spots were to be

relinquished as soon as possible. Why not them?

The man—and Marin was only guessing that the driver was a man—had

bypassed those without parking lot etiquette and zeroed in on Lindal. If she had

continued her slow progress through the parking lot, would Marin be in this horrible

room with its beeping monitors and bleached air instead of Lindal.

Staring down at her aunt’s unmoving form, Marin tried to find a place to rest her

hand. She needed to touch her. She needed to know that the only person willing to take

her in, after the death of her mother, was really here and still alive.

“They will find him, Lindal. He won't get away with this,” Marin made her vow as

quietly as possible, not wanting to disturb Lindal's recovery.

Glancing up to keep tears from falling from her eyes, Marin noticed something

swinging off of Lindal's oxygen line. “What the...” It looked like a Barbie doll with wings,

perhaps six inches tall. The odd little creature wore a loin cloth and sported some overly

obvious male attributes. Was it wrong to be checking out the abs of someone no larger

Hallucination or not, she grabbed the little man by the wings, pulled him from

Now… without further ado… here is Marin Yarthine…

Interviewer: You’ve had quick the introduction to the Fae world, Marin… Can I call you Marin..

Marin (reddened cheeks): Uhh… sure… I mean, that’s what most people call me… Kyland has

been call me, Minzet, but I’m pretty sure that’s something just between us since it means Sweet One…

but…yeah… Marin would be best.

Interviewer (light chuckle): Great. Well, I nice to finally get to sit down with us… and as the new Princess

to the Fae people, with such an odd upbringing… the Fae would love to know a little pit about you… Tell

us a little bit about day to day life in the royal world…

Marin: Pfft… Most of the time I think they have the wrong girl… I mean… I was home schooled,

and have worked at Finder’s Keepers since I turned 17… for the past four years I have been slipping into

Finder’s Trances in order to locate everything from pets to abduction victims… from car keys to family

heirlooms… it sounds like important work but really, I mostly had to pull a bunch of information

together so that other Finder’s could go out on Mission to locate whatever the client had misplaced…

Interviewer: That sounds like important work to me… also, something that would take a toll on your

emotions… do you have someone to cuddle up to at night to help you get through the day???

Marin (Cheeks now flaming red): Kyland… he came out of nowhere and changed my life… and he

doesn’t even mind when I accidentally shock him with this new power that has a tendency to get out of

Interview: …. (shuffles through questions) … (scoots chair back and grits her teeth)… What goals and

hardships do you face… what do you want for the Fae?? I mean… what are your plans to keep the Fae

community safe?? (scoots back a little further…)

Marin (head cocked to the side): I’m still learning about the Fae world.. but I would say my goal

is to keep as many people safe as I can… (fists clench) … if the evil Fae, those Danshue ********… sorry

for my language, but if they would just stop getting in the way, I could learn a little faster… someone

needs to stop the Danshue before this community I’m just getting to know dies out…

Sparks light up on Marin’s hands, but Interviewer merely gets a white

Knuckled grip on her set and continues…

Interviewer: One final questions and we will let you get back to your new duties as Princess… Can you

tell us what fears you are facing in this new chapter of your life???

Marin: … (Deep Breath…) Lindal… that the woman that pretended to be my only family, that

kidnapped me as a child (sparks on her fingertips) … that she will find a way to finish what she started…

(more sparks) … that she will find a way to hurt the people I am coming to care about… that she will hurt

KYLAND … (small explosion blowing out all the lights)

Interview warily pulls herself up out of the floor, where she dove to avoid flying glass…

Interview(voice shaky) : Alright… I think that’s all we have time for… thanks for stopping by Princess…

Maggie Ryan Presents My Sassy Settler #hotread

My Sassy Settler

Willamette Wives, Book Two

By Maggie Ryan

What should be a wonderful new adventure for newlyweds Wyatt and Agatha Wilcox is
not turning out quite the way they'd hoped. Wyatt's dreams of building a new life with the
girl he'd met and wed while traveling on the Oregon Trail are turning into a nightmare.
He loves his wife dearly but has no idea how to reach her.

Agatha knows she isn't the wife that Wyatt dreamed of. Despite her deep love for this
man, she just finds it impossible to  cast  aside  all the words  and  damnation she'd  been
hearing from her stepfather for the past year. Her hope that she'd find a fresh start as Mrs.
Wilcox, and her excitement at the idea of settling into their first home on a ranch they're
going to help build, are overshadowed by the fact that her Ma is no longer with her, and
the knowledge that she is not the pure and innocent woman Wyatt deserves. She knows
she is a sinner; a woman too weak and too selfish to let the man she loves go free.

Dangers in this newly settled land aren't limited to the bears and wild cats that roam the
forests and mountains of the Willamette Valley. The deep cold of winter is coming, and
the ranch's  inhabitants  need  to  prepare. It  is  with  the  help  of friends,  their  partners  in
building  The  Double  R  Ranch—affectionately  known  as  The  Rose  Ranch  to  its
founders—that  things  come  to  a  head  between Agatha  and Wyatt,  and their first steps
toward a new life are taken. Will the couple find their way past the hatred spewed by a
self  proclaimed  preacher  to find that, together,  they  have the strength  and the love to
build the lives they each had envisioned?

With  patience  and  love,  will  Agatha  learn  to  trust  that  this  man  would  never  let  her
down? What will Wyatt think when he discovers that, beneath her fear, he not only wed a
wonderful woman, but he has wed his own Sassy Settler?

My Sassy Settler is the second book in the Willamette Wives series, and also continues
the story of Anna and Richard, Charity and James, and other characters first introduced in
Maggie Ryan's bestselling book: His Passionate Pioneer.

"Are you planning on staying there all day?"

Her  husband's  question  had  come from  above  her  and  had  her  looking  up.  His

height made it easy for him to simply look over the bales and peer down at her. When she

didn't immediately answer, he sighed.

"Agatha, hiding doesn't solve anything. When you are ready to talk, I'll be sitting

right here." He disappeared but she felt the hay at her back move and understood that he

was sitting,  his  back  pressing  against  the  hay  on  the  opposite side  of  where she  was

leaning. The only sounds in the barn were the shuffling of the animals in their stalls.

Several minutes passed before she spoke. "I'm sorry."

"So am I."

Her  heart  ached.  She'd  been  waiting  for  this  moment  for  weeks.  Though  she

wasn't  strong  enough  to  let  him  go,  she'd  never  doubted  that  one  day  he'd  find  the

strength  to set  her  aside.  After  all, she'd  done  nothing  but  push  him  away since  their

wedding day.

"I'llI'll go," she whispered.

"Aggy, the  only  place  you will  be  going is  across my  knees if  you  don't  get it

through your thick skull that I love you."

"Yyou do?"

"Oh, for God's sake!" She felt the hay shift at her back. Before she could react, he

had  moved,  lifted  her  off  her  feet  and  stepped  back  around  the  stack.  In  one  fluid

movement, he sank to sit on the hay bale she'd caused to fall onto the floor, adjusted her

so that she was straddling his lap and cupped her chin in his fingers, forcing her head to

tilt back.

"Open your eyes and look at me." The silence drew out until she opened her eyes

and focused  on  him.  "If  you  don't  hear  another  word I say,  hear  this. I  loved  you  the

moment I held you in my  arms  at that dance. I've loved you  every moment since  and,

young lady, I will love you until the day I die."

"I  don't want  you to  die!"  She  burst  into  tears,  the force  of  her sobs making  it

difficult to draw breath, but she had to make him understand. "II deserve to die... I'm the

babad  one.  Youyou  are  gogood.  II  begged  God  toto  take...  take  me...  but  hehe

knows II'm aa liar and, and..."

Wyatt dropped her chin to wrap his arms around her and pulled her to his chest.

One hand began to stroke up and down her back. "Shhh, oh, Aggy, shhh. No one is going

to die." When she attempted to push away to explain, he simply held her tighter. "Shhh, I

promise everything is going to be just fine."

Maggie Ryan

Author  for  Blushing  Books.  I  write  both  contemporary  erotica  and  historical

spanking  romances.  I  enjoy  writing  about  characters  that  enjoy  the  provocative  D/S

lifestyle of today’s times as well as taking a step back into the past to write stories that

take place in the Victorian era with ageplay as a theme.

I live in the great Lone Star state with my wonderful husband.  I have always loved

reading.  Growing up in a family with four children, it was difficult finding a place to be

alone.  I was probably one of the squeakiest clean girls on the planet as I would spend

hours in the tub so I could read without being bothered.  It wasn’t long before I began to

make up my own endings to the books I was reading.  From there, it just seemed natural

to begin writing my own stories.

I  never  try  to  restrict  myself  to  any  one  genre  because  there  are  just  too  many

delicious  possibilities  out  there  and  inside  my  head.  I  admit  to  being somewhat  of  a

romantic though as my stories always must have a great deal of love, passion, corporal

discipline and, of course, great, mindblowing sex.  I want my readers to be able to see,

hear, feel and know the characters that I’m creating as well as I do when I bring them to

life and transfer their stories to paper.  I want my women to be strong of character but

also strong enough to know that submission given in love and trust to your partner does

not  make  you  weaker,  it  makes  you  far stronger.  I  want  my  men  to  be sexy, strong,

demanding alpha males who know how to take what they want while acknowledging it is

a gift they have been blessed with by the women that have chosen to submit to them.  I

want there to be no doubt that they truly would die for the other no matter how others

might view their relationship.

Lyn O'Farrell #EggcerptExchange Worth the Risk #romance

Eggcerpt Exchange 2016 – Linda McLaughlin

Book: Worth The Risk by Lyn O’Farrell, contemporary romance

Worth The Risk blurb:

Children's librarian Amanda Lloyd values privacy above all else. Three years ago her wedding ended in disaster when her groom was arrested at the altar and the story of the 'Embezzler's Bride' appeared in the supermarket tabloids. The experience has left her determined to avoid being caught in the public eye again. Until she meets a sexy single dad with a scandalous past…

Ex-racer Mitch Delaney is a public figure whose life has been plastered across the tabloids more than once. But he believes that anything worth doing is worth a risk. After the death of his ex-wife, he moved to Southern California to take care of his son Josh. He doesn't need the complication of a woman in his life, especially since Josh's grandparents have filed suit for custody. But Josh is on the hunt for a new mother and he has his heart set on Miss Amanda, and Mitch can't fault his son's taste.

Against her better judgment, Amanda finds herself falling for both of the Delaney men. When she agrees to accompany Mitch to a high-profile movie premiere, they draw the attention of the tabloids. Overnight Amanda’s private affair becomes very public indeed, threatening her job and Mitch’s custody suit. She’s waited twenty-eight years for the right man. But will happiness come at too high a price?

(Golden Heart Finalist, previously published as Private Affair, Kensington Precious Gem #121)

Eggcerpt:

The town was lovely, with tall palm trees and a sandy crescent of beach ringing the glistening bay. It was a picture perfect day as they strolled along the waterfront to one of her favorite seafood restaurants.

After a delicious lunch of fresh swordfish they walked the town, stopping at all the tourist spots. They hiked up to the botanical gardens, visited the Casino where haunting echoes of the Big Band era seemed still alive, and went on the Glass Bottom boat.

“Let’s take a walk on the beach,” Mitch suggested as they stepped onto the pier.

They shed their shoes and socks, enjoying the feel of the warm sand on their toes. Amanda breathed deeply of the sea air and sighed in contentment.

“It’s been such a nice day, I hate to go home,” Mitch observed.

“You just don’t want to get back in the plane,” she teased.

“On the contrary, I can’t wait to take off over that drop-off gorge. I hope it doesn’t leave Josh fatherless.”

“You don’t have any confidence in me.”

“I haven’t booked passage on the boat, have I? You can’t get rid of me that easily.”

He gave her a look that told her the man loved a touch of danger. Her plan had backfired. Instead of discouraging him, he seemed even more interested. That should bother her, but somehow it didn’t.

“I’ve really enjoyed this.” He gestured at the town. “It’s like another world.”

She nodded in agreement. “That’s the reason I enjoy flying over here. It’s so easy to forget about the stress of daily life.”

He slipped his arm around her shoulders. “What kind of pressure are you going back to at the library?”

The pressure is right here. She was constantly fighting her attraction to this man. “Nothing really,” she remarked casually. “We’re getting ready for Halloween and I’ve got to get a costume together. I’m supposed to be Sleeping Beauty.”

“Oh? That has possibilities.” He leaned closer so his lips brushed her temple. His throaty voice whispered in her ear, “You’ll need a prince to kiss you awake, you know. I’ll be happy to volunteer for the job.”

Amanda’s breath quickened as she stared into his darkened eyes. He wouldn’t. Not here, on a public beach, in front of everyone.

He would.

She felt her knees weaken as his mouth descended. Her mind told her to pull away but her body had no desire to back out of his embrace. His kiss was as light and tender as an ocean breeze, but her reaction was anything but cool. Her pulse pounded and her heart jumped erratically.

It’s just a kiss, she told herself. But even as they pulled apart she felt a burning desire, an aching need, to feel his arms around her.

Circles of Fate by Pamela S. Thibodeaux #EggcerptExchange #romance

Shaunna Chatman Taylor / Circles of Fate

1. Nickname: When I began working as a waitress at the Feed Trough Café at age sixteen, the patrons dubbed me “Shaunna Sweetness” that name stuck although it’s been shortened to just ‘Sweetness.’
2. Job: As I said, I waitressed for many years until my husband and I moved to Louisiana after which a friend and I opened a catering business called “Shaunna’s Sweets.” That business closed when we moved from the city of Thibodaux into the country but I still baked for my son’s class parties and a few private events.
3. Level of schooling, or self-taught: Other than high school I have no formal education.
4. Birthplace: I was born and raised in Georgia. My father was in the Army stationed at Ft. Benning, and my mom was very ill. She died the night of my high school graduation.
5. Currently residing in... Chauvin, Louisiana a community about thirty miles outside of Thibodaux.

Blurb: Set at the tail end of the Vietnam War era, Circles of Fate takes the reader from Fort Benning, Georgia to Thibodaux, Louisiana. A romantic saga, this gripping novel covers nearly twenty years in the lives of Shaunna Chatman and Todd Jameson. Constantly thrown together and torn apart by fate, the two are repeatedly forced to choose between love and duty, right and wrong, standing on faith or succumbing to the world’s viewpoint on life, love, marriage and fidelity. With intriguing twists and turns, fate brings together a cast of characters whose lives will forever be entwined. Through it all is the hand of God as He works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Excerpt:

“Promise me you’re sure or I won’t let you go.”
She would have to convince him or he’d never let her leave. She also knew he’d see through anything less than complete honesty.
“Oh, Todd,” she whispered, her voice urgent. “I wish it were that easy. I’m sure I have to try. But I want you to know something…” She hesitated, unsure how to say what she needed to say. “If things were different, if he weren’t so determined, if nothing was left between us, if I didn’t think there was a chance, I would stay.” Her eyes searched his for some sign he understood.
A ghost of a smile played around his sensuous lips, he nodded. “I know,” he whispered. “And I understand,” he said and gathered her close once more.
She should leave. Shaunna knew Joe waited for her, but was unable, unwilling, to end it, to end them, just yet. She held him firm in her embrace, committed the feel of his body to heart.
“I have to go,” she whispered, then clung, not yet able to turn him loose.
“I know,” he answered and tightened his arms around her. With a sigh of surrender, he stepped away, loosened his hold but rubbed her back and shoulders in a tender gesture.
“Don’t look back,” he whispered then dropped his hands to his side, clenched his fists.
She saw the struggle in his eyes, felt it in her heart, as each fought not to grab hold and cling. They gazed at each other, read the naked truth in each other’s eyes.
Neither wanted to be the first to walk away.
Shaunna touched his face, traced his features…his eyes, his jaw, his mouth. A shiver shook her when he held her hand and pressed his lips to her fingertips.
“I almost wish we had made love the other night.”
Almost?
The word echoed between them like a silent scream. The despair in his eyes slashed her heart another degree. He shook his head, swallowed hard.
“Know this. If we had, you would not leave here today.”
She stroked his cheek, her smile tender, bittersweet. “Take care of yourself. Please,” she whispered then placed her mouth on his.
