The Night Before Scandal – by Scarlett Scott

Master of the Moor – by Emmanuelle de Maupassant
After more than twenty years in exile, Lord Mallon returns to his native Dartmoor – a place vast and barren and mysterious – and there meets the charming Comtessa de Rosselline. Neither believe in love, but the attraction between them is immediate, and irresistible. Can they defy the ghosts of the past, allowing their tempestuous affair to become something more?

Teaser Quotes from Yuletide Yielding by Ashe Barker
“Please,” she murmured, then groaned when he stroked the hurt away. “Please, I want…”
“You want me to fuck you?”
She nodded, unable to lie to him, not about this.
“Tonight,” he promised and released her distended nub. He withdrew his hand, then bent to kiss the top of her head. “And remember, I can give you pain as well as pleasure.”

He knelt behind her and laid his hands on her reddened buttocks. He pressed, palmed them roughly, then eased them apart to examine the tight furl of her most secret place.
“Shall I take you here?” He pressed a finger against the opening.
“If you so wish, my jarl.”

He would never have his fill of this lovely little Saxon wench who relished pain and joy in equal measure. Whether he spanked her until she wept or fucked her until neither of them could see straight, she loved it. He loved it

Snippet from Yuletide Yielding by Ashe Barker
He paused, eyed her with a curious blend of exasperation and something else also. Something softer, warmer, more compassionate. “You did not hope to wed me yourself, did you? You must realise that is impossible.”
“I know that. I have never said—”
“But you have wanted it? Wished it could be so?”
“Perhaps,” she whispered. “But I am not a fool. I am a thrall. Vikings do not marry thralls.”
“They do, on occasion. But I am not merely a Viking. My brother is the jarl. I have responsibilities. Even so, I do not wish to hurt you, and I would prefer that you could be content with what we have.”
But even if you are not, it is happening anyway. The words lay unspoken between them.
His expression hardened. “I have said all I wish to on this matter. We will not speak of it further.”
“Very well.” Resigned to her situation since she could not alter it, and to her coming punishment, Lynet stared at her bare toes. “Do you want me to take off my clothes?” Apart from the blanket and Stian’s cloak, she wore only her thin, rough woollen night smock.
“I do. Then you may arrange yourself across my lap.” Stian started to unfasten the leather belt around his waist.
“You would beat me with your belt?” Lynet recoiled. “I had thought you meant just to spank me.”
“Disobedience alone would have merited a spanking. Your dishonesty requires something a little sterner by way of correction. So, you will undress then come here, Lynet, and accept your punishment.”

Youthful Temptations by @AuthorTinaGayle #HappyEnding #excerpt #romance

Youthful Temptations by Tina Gayle

Blurb:

A widow with two grown children, Linda Clayton is ready to let loose and have some fun. Jilted at a party, she met a younger man, Vaughn Reagan. He tempts with an active imagination and allures her into his life by tempting her with seductive games.

Vaughn thrilled to find a woman who doesn’t want children. He offers Linda a job so he can spend his days with her. Now, if he could only convince her to forget their age difference and enjoy the nights in his arm.

Excerpt:

He followed her and stood directly behind her when she paused by the counter. His breath ruffled her hair, and it brushed against her cheek. A wintergreen scent floated past her nose.

She turned and lifted her hands to create a barrier between them. “Why do you want to get to know me better? You can’t honestly be interested in me.”

He smiled and stepped forward so her hands landed on his chest. “I don’t know about that. Not many people would publicly oppose Philip. With his movie-star face and fake charm, he bamboozles most of the people in our neighborhood.” His hands gripped her waist. Yet, he didn’t crowd her like he wouldn’t release her if she decided to move away. “Or it could be I’m just a sucker for redheads. They radiate a fire which attracts me.”

What would he say if she told him she wasn’t a natural redhead? Studying his face, she judged the meaning behind his words. Twinkles of amusement danced in the depths of his gray eyes. His round glasses sat on a slightly crooked nose, an interesting feature that added to his youthful look. Dark hair framed his face, and a rebellious lock fell onto his forehead. The urge to brush the erratic strand back into place tickled her palm. She clenched her hands to stifle the compelling desire.

“I think there’s more to it. Anyone can buy this color in a bottle.” The musky scent of his cologne drew her closer. She melted a little under the heady fragrance, teased with thoughts of long bouts of sex on a hot summer day.

“Yes, but it’s also the redheaded attitude—fire and ice, feisty and fierce, the bite of a Doberman and the loyalty of a Lab.”

“So you’re calling me a dog.” She couldn’t help but smile at his metaphors. The man’s strange way of saying things provoked images in her head.

“No, I wouldn’t be that rude. But if you want to lick my face or sit at my feet, I won’t complain.” He tilted his head and offered a crooked smile.

Wow, what a stupid thing to say. A laugh broke free, and she shook her head. “You’re too cute for words and probably not much older than my son.”

He frowned, and his hands tightened on her waist. “I don’t believe age has anything to do with the emotional mix I’m experiencing at the moment.”

The naked lust in his gaze showed a serious desire to enjoy the pleasures of sex.

Startled by a hot rush screaming through her body at the unspoken invitation, she exclaimed, “But I’m years older than you!”

“And sexy as hell.”

She couldn’t take him seriously, not at her age and with her background. His house and truck cost more than she’d sold Tom’s business for. “I have two grown children.”

“And know multiple ways to please a man.”

Shocked, she shot back, “I’m a grandmother.”

“Who has the body of a sex goddess!”

She shook her head again. “You’ve got to be joking. Or maybe you need new glasses because no one has ever accused me of being a sex goddess.”

“Then they weren’t looking very hard.” His gaze fell to her breasts.

“Or you’re not getting out enough.” The idea of him really seeing her as attractive weakened her resolve. She rubbed her hands over the soft fabric of his sweater.

“But I can find a lot of examples of goddesses on the Web.” His hands inched their way along her rib cage.

“And they’ve been technically enhanced.” A shiver of awareness rose on her skin. She’d never been very good at resisting temptation.

“Which proves I know what’s awesome and what’s not.” His thumbs brushed the undersides of her breasts.

Linda closed her eyes and inhaled a deep breath. The warm stroke of his hands ignited a craving for sex that had been dormant one year, four months, six days, three hours, and twenty-three minutes too long.

Get a grip. The man would bolt for the hills if he ever laid eyes on her stretch-marked breasts. “You’ve, ah, not seen them in their natural state, so you can’t hand out an accurate comparison.”

“If that’s an invitation for a private viewing”—he cupped her breasts—“I accept.”

His words finally registered in her lust-filled brain, and her eyes sprang open. “What?”

“I’d be . . .” A light squeeze drew her attention to his hands covering her breasts.

“Oh my gosh, what am I doing?” She leaped back. Her hips bumped the counter, and his hands fell to her waist. She wondered at the number of drinks she’d consumed at the party. Could she be drunk? “I, uh . . .”

“Am embarrassed because you liked me touching your breasts.” Vaughn finished her sentence.
“It’s not a sin to like to be caressed.”

“Yes, but I don’t even know you.” She shifted along the edge of the counter until he relinquished his grip on her waist and then stepped away.

Desire tempted her, but she knew the trouble that followed if she allowed a stranger unlimited liberty. After only five minutes alone with her first husband, she’d jumped him. Lust robbed her of all her cognitive abilities. At her age, she should know better than to let him touch her. “I’d better call my son.”

“Wait.” Vaughn caught her wrist. “Don’t panic. I’m not going to do anything you don’t want me to.”

Her face on fire, she scanned his serious expression. His gray eyes reflected a concern she’d not observed on a man’s face since her husband’s death.

“You know I find you attractive, and if given the opportunity, I’d make love to you.” He crowded closer and blocked her means of escape.

She tugged on her hand. The alluring voice of temptation whispered a titillating tale of frolicking around in bed with him at a resort hotel. Other visions followed—playing in the waves on a distant shore, having sex on a sandy beach, or dancing in the dark under a star-studded sky. She shook her head and fought for a reason not to finally satisfy her deep-seated yearnings. There were no ties to bind her in the morning. Why not?

Guarantee Devotion - A #Syfy Full Length #EroticRomance #Mystery

This is one of my favorite book - because it is a futuristic tale of how you can guarantee devotion.

Blurb -

Suzi Hotwired for each other... When Ross Dixon is kidnapped from his office, along with the sexy lawyer who'd been busting his balls over a deal that should have been a walk in the park, he wakes to find a devotion chip surgically implanted in his brain. If that isn't bad enough, the chip, designed to trigger emotional reactions between him and the woman lying next to him, is working overtime on his libido.

Mistaken for Ross's flavor of the month, Kayla Michaels, a 22nd century lawyer, doesn't have a problem spending time in Ross's bed--or over his desk--but she wants no part in the romantic feelings the chip is provoking. She's been down that road before and ended up burned.

Kayla and Ross struggle to find answers while coming to terms with the constant lust sizzling between them, but along the way each wonders if the emotions are real or just a side effect of being hotwired.

Excerpt
The tall mountain of a man in the middle shuffled forward. “Come with us, please.”

“And if we don’t want to go?” Still in her chair, Kayla appeared ready to jump into action if any of them stepped closer. To fight three men might be foolhardy, but he couldn’t help but respect her courage.

“You don’t have a choice,” the leader said and led the way forward. “Our job is to get you there on time.”

Kayla laid the minicomputer in her lap on the floor and stood. “I’m not going anywhere with anyone.”

Ross straightened. “Wait a minute. There’s been a mistake.”

“No, mistake, Mr. Dixon.” The third man pulled out restraints.

“We’ve been paid to bring you in and that’s what we’re going to do. Let’s not make this harder than it is.”

Ross gripped the edge of his desk. Transport teams were often hired out to private parties. “Who paid you?”

“Enough talk.” The leader motioned with his weapon. “Let’s go.”

Let's Thanks #Reviewers Everywhere #books @Amazon #ASMSG

It sounds easy, doesn't it?

Read a book and give a review.

Hey, we had to do it as kids in school.

Funny, but I still don't enjoy writing a review. Mainly, because I'm not sure exactly what to say that another reader might want to know. That's why I appreciate great reviews. They tell you what you want to know without giving away the plot or the ending.

So today I wanted to say thanks to all the people who spend time reviewing books. Good or bad review, you are appreciated by both authors and readers. Keep up the good work.

I thought I'd share a few of my reviews from Amazon.

McKee's Ghost (on sale now for 99cents)

Brenda (Amazon Review) This is an old west romance with a paranormal twist. The author does a great job developing the characters and weaving an interesting story line. The McKee brothers know what they want when they see it and with the help of their resident ghosts , set out to get them. The author brings a multitude of colorful characters that help move the story such as Grandma Nettie and Barney , the ghosts and also little Genna and her ability to talk to Clyde , the stubborn horse. I loved this book and would highly recommend reading.

A Cowboy's Passion  (free on KU)

Stephanie V. (Amazon Review) This book is A Cowboy's Passion written by Anita Philmar. It's not as long as I prefer but I guess you can only put so many hot as heck scenes into one book! It's set back in the old west and there is a lot of partner sharing going on up in here! Whew! Where is the fire hose??

More Than Ready (99cents)

Irene Talbert (Amazon Review)  The story is about Mary Beth and Kirk. Mary Beth it seems has been interested in Kirk since he tried to....well let's just say....try to do more than kiss 💋 her.
Kirk has been interested in Sadie his dead brother's widow. So, he decided to do the honorable thing by marrying her but she marries someone else.
Picture a barn, a guy and a gal with a lasso. What happens next is interesting to say the least.
Read to find out what happens.

Thanks reviewers for all you do,

Anita

Lucky by Ryanne Hawk

The tattoo parlor reminded Cecelia Marks of a Goth den, full of black walls, red furniture, and low lighting with patchouli floating on the air, along with the unmistakable scent of ink. She’d wanted a new piece for a few months but had to save the money and find the right design to remind her of her new life. And everything she’d left behind.
She walked over to the long modern sofa and sat on the hard cushion. Why does beautiful furniture have to be so uncomfortable? she thought. So people don’t mill around and stay where they aren’t wanted? Why have them at all, then? Cecelia huffed out an exaggerated sigh and crossed her legs as she perused the shop. A kickass bass beat pumped through hidden speakers. She recognized the band and smiled, and the urge to stand up and get down made her jam on the couch with her arms and head.
She’d learned over the past few horrible years to take joy whenever she found it.
On the walls, black picture frames were scattered in geometric patterns featuring custom tattoo work. She heard faint voices echo from the back, though she couldn’t make out the words.
A male and female were arguing, that much she knew.
A few moments later and the scuff of footsteps made its way toward the front of the shop where she waited in front of the full wall of windows, tapping her foot on the cement floor, irritated that her artist was a few minutes late for her scheduled appointment.
Cecelia believed in punctuality.
The man who turned the corner and headed straight for her made her sit up straighter in her seat and take notice of more than just his body art. He had thick, almost black hair, shorn close to the sides but longer on top, sort of old school 1950s deco. Think of Grease. God, she loved that movie. He had deep—set eyes, a thick brow, and full lips. Not feminine plump, but sensual, taking her to a place where silken sheets and sexy laughter rang through the night. He had full sleeve artwork, mostly in bright colors, but a few black and white pieces adorned his arms as well.
She blinked and wiped her palms on her leggings before she stood as he approached. He held his hand out and said, “I’m Luke Miller, your artist. Did you bring your design with you?”
Cecelia stumbled over her name for a moment, remembering who she was now, as she said, “I’m Cecilia,” and handed him her printed design. He reached out and his finger touched hers as he took the paper. A jolt like static electricity ran through her body from the mere second of contact. He didn’t move, just stared deep into her eyes for half a breath.

What the Werepanther Dragged In by Stikki Minaj
Sun Salutations
Morning comes early when you own a coffee shop.
I’d barely had time to flip the door sign from “Time to Switch to Booze” to “Trouble’s Brewin’!” when Anton burst through the door.
“Good lord, what are you doing up at this hour?” My best bud since elementary school, he just let himself behind the bar and poured himself a mug of black coffee before claiming the stool at the end.
He smiled at me over the top of the mug, “Who says I’m just getting up? Girl, I have not been to sleep yet.” He sipped smugly. “Some of us have lives.”
“Some of us have jobs.”
“Ouch. You are mean in the morning. You should get more sleep.”
His real name is Anthony, but he thinks Anton sounds French. We’ve been best friends since fifth grade when I was able to protect him from the mean kids because I was tall. He was the shortest kid in class, I was the tallest. He was dark as cast iron, I had milky white skin that could get a sunburn from a photo of the beach. Now he’s well over six feet tall and I’m still the 5’8” I hit in sixth grade. Our races stayed the same, though.
Our backgrounds were different too——he’s an only child and I have eight sisters;his parents were doctors and recent immigrants from Ethiopia, my mom is a witch and my dad disappeared when I was two, under mysterious circumstances that may or may not have involved trolls——but when we discovered our shared love of show tunes and Animaniacs, we were inseparable. I kept him from getting beat up until he was big enough to fend for himself and he told me when it was time to stop wearing hair scrunchies.
I’m Kateri Surreal, eldest of the simmering cauldron of crazy that is the Surreal sisters. I’m “the responsible one,” which is just as sexy as it sounds, but it was that or “the one with no tits” or “the one with the coffee shop.” My sisters are off having adventures and shit and I wake up at 5 am every day to open Witch’s Brew and caffeinate my little corner of Brooklyn. I live in the weeny little apartment above the shop with my cat, Gomez.
Oh, and yes, my mom is actually a witch. So am I, although I’m far less eye—of—newt Olde Schoole than she is. My brewing is mostly limited to coffee and mild hexes on people who double park in front of the shop. I also sell occult jewelry to the goth girls that want to look Wiccan and freak out their parents. You know, pentagrams with crystal centers, snake rings with jeweled eyes. None of it is charmed, though, just ugly. My rack of candles and sage smudge bundles bring in the New Agey old ladies in flowing linen and jangly bracelets. The usual crowd that want to believe that magic is real.

I mean, magic is real, of course, but you can’t just buy the right supplies and suddenly you can do it. It’s magic, not arts and crafts.

Thanks for reading excerpts from Paws and Claws, hope you enjoyed,
Anita

Cougar and the Lion by Kristen Strassel

All my friends love Girls’ Night out. They look forward to escaping their kids and mates for a couple hours, not to mention the chance to drink too much wine and let loose. But for me it was just a reminder I didn’t have any of those things to leave behind.
As everyone’s families grew, girls’ night happened less and less. And that was fine with me, it saved me from making excuses not to go. After a while it just got awkward. I don’t know anything about soccer practice, or potty training, or home equity. And I can’t remember the last time anyone asked me if I was seeing someone. Thank Gods. Because then they would try to play matchmaker.
But tonight, Girls’ Night was unavoidable. My younger sister Katera came down from Denver for the weekend and invited her best friends to come out and celebrate with us. There was no bowing out of this one, I was the guest of honor.
Tonight was my fortieth birthday.
Turning forty wasn’t bad at all. I certainly wasn’t old, and I was happy with who I’d become. I might not have the two point five kids or the picket fence, but I love my job as a reporter at the local newspaper, and I have a cute little apartment. Nobody ever guesses that I’m much more than thirty, so I can’t look that bad. All of the cougars in the pride aged well. Say what you want about the extra pounds I’m carrying, but fat trumps wrinkles any day of the week in my book.
“I’m so excited to try this new club!” Kat was trying way too hard to show me a good time tonight, like she’d found out I was terminal instead of forty. “The owners have a club in London, too. I checked out a few years back when I was over there for work.”
Anyone would guess Kat and I were sisters, we looked a lot alike with our long blonde hair and hazel eyes. But she was taller than me and her body was absolute perfection. I envied her, but I also knew how hard she worked to look like that. And it paid off. It had taken her around the world, working as a model, her feline grace photographing beautifully. Now that she was in her thirties, she was actually busier than ever, with a never—ending call to play mommy in commercials.
“Do you think we’ll get in?” I raised an eyebrow as I wiped off some of my blush. Kat’s makeup was perfect, and mine was bordering on streetwalker. Whoops. I hardly ever wore more than the absolute basics unless I was going someplace like this. “I hear that place is super picky. I’m happy just going to dinner, you know. We don’t have to get crazy.”

Werewolf Lust Two by Leslie Hunter
A good bounty hunter knows when to use the correct tools. Right now, that’s a Twinkie. Some look at my size and think, ‘Of Course’. I learned to play into people’s stereotypes about big girls. Yes, it tastes good, but it’s as effective as any gun.
My bounty, Sergio Garcia walked outside of the convenience store. I followed him for the last two hours in the Texas sun and waited. In my business, you couldn’t wait for the perfect time – just less worse. I slid out of the Jeep and made a show of eating the Twinkie.
Sergio glanced in my direction, his shoulders went up, and he frowned. I muffled an “Excuse me” as I passed. His eyes went back toward the road in case any men came in guns blazing. I turned around and pressed the silver barrel of my 44 Magnum against his back.
I pulled his gun from under his shirt. “Hello Sergio. Ready to go back to prison?”
He spun around and knocked the Magnum from my hand. His gun fell as well. The smart thing would have been to shoot right away. After Iraq, I’ve seen too many deaths. Besides, it’s hard to get paid when the bounty’s dead and I didn’t feel like sitting in jail.
He reached down for the gun. I kicked him hard with a Krav Maga kick and his head went back. He fell back toward the dirt and hunched his shoulders while groaning. I kicked his gun away and aimed the gun.
I spoke in Spanish. “Don’t make me kill you.” I tossed the handcuffs and smiled as I ate the rest of my victory Twinkie.
I’ve been in firefights in Iraq and dragged soldiers hit by explosives. Despite that, my heart never beat as fast as it did now. In less than ten minutes, I’d see him again. No photos or grainy video chat, but the real deal.
My eyes went up to a photo of us together just before I shipped out. Skinny, short blond Nash on the left and me next to him. Even then I kept my brown hair short. I had a similar camouflage tank top like the one I’m wearing now. Loose enough to be comfortable during a stake—out but enough to support ‘the girls’.
Maybe I should have dressed up.
It’s not a date.

Isn’t it?
